So where is everyone playing this weekend?
Odell Brummett Band played last week at Megabytes in Crossville
Renegade is at the V in Lake City Friday and Saturday.

Handed it to a guy who wanted to sit in, he played twenty minutes flawlessly. He was more concerned about the length of my strap, and didn't mention the fanned frets.

They look imposing, but fanned frets are extremely intuitive, your fingers are already leaning that direction no matter where you play on the neck.

The 37" low B is worth spending time to adjust if you need it I promise!

It was a very cool place, had a nice vibe to it.

Hello Michael Vee and all East TNers - haven't been on TB in a few weeks. My small business is crazy busy (I had 2 days off in all of February) plus lots of gigs and family time.

Alien Love Charm: Sat 4/25 at Rogers Place

The Scruffy City Hall date is the semi-finals of the Scruffy City Band Eat Band Competition with 3 other bands ... the rest of them are us. If you haven't been there yet, it's a gorgeous new non-smoking venue with a state of the art sound system on Market Square. We went to the Warren Zevon tribute show there on 3/20 and had a great time.

State Street Rhythm Section continues to get a lot of interest - we either have upcoming gigs or have played at 10 different Knoxville clubs so far. Just changed trumpet players yet again - this is the 3rd one in under a year. What is it with these guys anyway? :)

Hey Scott, I spotted your business cards in GC when I was looking for a shipping box Sunday, very sharp!

Well, the Combustion is on it's way to a new home, I was hoping to keep it local, but listing a used Dingwall in the for sale section is like throwing chum in the water lol.....

Odell Brummett Band is playing at the Hillside this weekend in LaFollette TN. Started out as a pretty happening social gathering, but it's gone down a little due to some fierce competition. Word has it there is a wet t-shirt contest going on at a nearby club in the area with cash prizes, so that may dampen the enthusiasm for where we are playing. And what we are displaying, or not displaying.:eek:

For those who aren't familiar with Reverend basses, they were made in Michigan from 1997 until 2006. They only produced 289 of this model, the Rumblefish R5L, and 74 of those were black. You can still buy new Reverend basses, but I think their production has moved to Korea. I liked the looks and have wanted one for quite a while, so when this one popped up in the TB classifieds a few days ago, I snagged it. It's here, but I haven't had the opportunity to check it out yet as I was away on business all week.

Richard, I was lucky enough to get to play one of these owned by the guy who sold me my Ampeg stack a number of years ago. First and only one I had seen up close, and I was really impressed with the lightness and the tone, beautifully made bass! One thing I've always wondered, and I bet you can clear up for me now, is how is the balance on these during a gig? Is there any neck dive, or does it balance pretty well?

I had an old Rik that wore me out until I realized I was holding the neck up all night long. I bought a strap that kind of "stuck" to whatever shirt I was wearing and solved that.

Well then clearly Jeff, No one has seen you in a wet tshirt or they would be crashing the stage flinging dollar bills at your feet !

All is well in my neck of the woods. Still doing double duty for PCC but Dave Harrell agreed to come on board and help me out. I actually have the entire week off this week. Not quite sure how to act.

Gear wise, I have thinned the herd down to bare bones. Dingwall SJ5, Dingwall SP5, The Funeral Bass, Martin DCPa4 which arrives April 15th, and the 51 Kay. Not a Fender in the house. Pretty weird.

My new DuallyT should be here at the end the week so I am giddy about it.

If anyone will be at Rise Together event at Farmers Market on the 13th, or at the Food City Easter Egg Hunt on the 19th, run me down and say hello.

Actually balances much better than I thought it would, Jeff. I played it at our Elks gig this past Friday night. When I pulled it out of it's case and realized I'd left the cheapo nylon strap normally reserved for church (sitting) I thought I was in trouble. I was very pleasantly surprised to find it balanced well all night.

Very deep. Thunderous even. Not muddy but authoritative. Mids are strong but adding highs is futile. In other words, fits my style very nicely. I did miss the ability of my P to respond to a heavy touch with those nice upper mids that make us want to dig in at the right time. Sorry for the wandering description (hard to explain tone for me sometimes) but I hope you get the idea. I'm definitely planning to bring it to the next GTG because it probably is a bass few will have the opportunity play very often.

I would be remiss not to mention the neck. Superb craftsmanship with rolled fingerboard and well dressed frets. I am not worthy and I'm pretty sure these will appreciate in the years to come.
