iamoldschool, if you didn't mind, I would absolutely love to play that P5 if you can bring it. I understand if you can't or have too much to bring. I have been wanting one ever since I had to sell one I picked up a few years ago in a trade and had to turn around and flip it right away. Barely even got to play it because it sold so fast!!

As of now, that date is open, so I've got it marked on my calendar as well. I'm playing with what used to be Blue Tonic, and we're filling dates with gigs, so we'll see if the date stays open, but the GTG being noon - 3pm shouldn't be affected by a gig. I say "used to be Blue Tonic" because we replaced our drummer, and he brought the name into the band, so we're currently nameless. We are covering for an Alien Love Charm gig tonight at the Mountain Top Inn, outside of Rockwood, and we will be at Just 1 More on November 8th - should have a new name by them.

If I can come, I'll bring:

I'll bring a few basses - I'm not sure which ones to bring, so I'll list them here, and if there is any particular interest in playing them speak up:

'06 Warwick Corvette Standard 4 (my current go-to bass)
'06 Warwick Corvette Standard Fretless 4 (also used regularly)
'89 Rickenbacker 4003 (old faithful for 20+ years, just got a new Hipshot bridge, Joe Barden pups, and a Treble Bezel)
'11 Carvin LB75P (could be talked into trading, looking for the right Warwick Streamer)
'81 Cortez Jazz (was my first bass, so it has more sentimental value than $ value, but it's a solid Jazz copy)

It's not really being advertised for sale, but if anyone might be interested in my Carvin stack, I'll be glad to bring it, as well. It's a PB500 head, V210 and V115 cabinets in grey fuzzy, as shown here: [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]. I bought it new in '91 for $1000, and all components are in brand new condition. $500 would take the set.

Sure thing. I'll be glad to bring it. It's usually a hit at the GTG's and is my number one player.

Well, I thought I was subscribed to the thread but apparently I was not. Talkbass software has changed a lot since I was around last in the spring! So now I AM subscribed, I hope. I missed just about all the posts of the past four weeks.

Good to see there is a GTG in the works. I am checking my schedule for Oct. 18th to see if I can make it. If so, I'll bring a few of my unusual basses down. I should know sometime this coming week.

I have a G&L L-2500 Tribute in natural ash with gig bag that I am wanting to sell. I'll restring that bass, set it up, and bring it as well. If anyone is interested in it in advance, shoot me a PM and I'll send pics.

Hated to miss the Morristown GTG, but it was good to meet Scott and Alien Love Charm that day. The last GTG at Jeff's church was not well attended, basically Jeff and I and two other people, so definitely hoping for a big turnout this go-round.

Ah, so we have a guitar player and sax player in common :)

I've been playing gigs with Brian off and on since 1996. Mostly on, with some down time early last decade. Dave I met back around 2007 when we were trying to get a somewhat lameass original jamband project off the ground that ultimately never happened.

The Mountain Top Inn gig Dave booked for Alien Love Charm was booked as a 'marker' to get a band in there with his name on it as I don't like to drive an hour out of town for gigs (neither does our drummer) and I have to keep my gigging nights down to 3-4 a month on Fri/Sat nights because of family time.

The 40 minute drive out isn't too bad - it's the drive back at 3:00am that is rough. Nice folks out there, but not much of a crowd to speak of. Quite frankly, I'm not sure how some of these establishments can afford to hire bands. I don't see how they are making enough to pay the band from any food or drink margin, when it looks like the entire gross revenue would barely break them even.

This new software is horrible with regard to alerts. I dont get notified about anything. Maybe I should drop all my alerts and re-subscribe?

I have been crazy busy playing, doing a number of things. I really need to make this thing as I have a missed a couple of these. Short of gig, I'm coming.

Bringing the Reiner 6SL7, Reiner BoT, Grennboy DuallyT and F115, SuperJ5, Elrick Gold Evo 5, and maybe the Funeral bass for color.

If anyone has something interesting to to trade for the 67 Ampeg B15N, I could bring it as well.

Zoomie- agreed, it is horrible. Thank you for making a bold statement. I'm going to start dropping by the site frequently to see if I'm missing posts by ETTB that the site is not notifying me about.

It is inconsistent that this new software is what it is, not good, but they are raising the rates for the paying members of the site this year, and allegedly continuing to enforce arbitrary and unjudicated censorship.

In regard to ETTB get-togethers, what does everyone who's been to one, or is planning to come to this upcoming one in October, think in terms of which pieces of gear you'll bring?

Some of it is just wanting to share with each other the gear we've picked up and give each other a chance to play a bass or amp that we haven't played. Another thought is that it's a way to showcase gear that we are wanting to sell, and someone might be interested at a GTG. Or, maybe it's a piece that we are particularly proud of and want to show off.

The first GTG I came to at Jeff's church, I stuffed my wagon full of gear, just about every piece of merit that I own. Just because I wanted to bring as much as I could. Some of the gear is in the avatar pic I'm using. At the second one at Jeff's church, I brought more selected pieces. Not much at all, but then there weren't many attenders, so it worked out ok that time.

This next GTG in October will be much better attended than the last one last year. So, I'm puzzling over whether I should bring tons o' gear or just more selected pieces.

If we have a lot of ETTB'ers in attendance, it might be better to bring less and more selected gear to share. The front of the sanctuary and the platform only has so much square footage available.

Where's everyone at in regards to coming, and how much gear to bring, at this point a few weeks out? And Jeff, what are you thinking will transpire at this point?

Hey guys another quick question from a hopefully soon to be East Tennessee bassist, what's the live and studio scene like in the eastern part of the state also music stores that handle nice bass gear,Looking in the sevierville area. Spent some time there this past summer but didn't get to research the music side of things.

Hey Dan, welcome to ETTB - and to East Tennessee in general.

I don't think most of us here who follow the ETTB thread are involved actively with the Sevier County music scene. Some live there, but they aren't the players who have what live gigs there are at Dollywood and the music houses there.

If anyone reading this thread and post DOES play in the Sevier scene, please post and let us know about you!

Knoxville does have a live music scene, but it's like anywhere else in the country. You have to get out and check out the bands and musicians that are gigging here and let them know who you are. I need to do more of that myself, as I'm primarily a music theatre musician in Knoxville and the surrounding area, but really would like to branch out and play other styles and with bands.

As far as music gear, you're mostly looking at The Music Outlet in Sevierville, and Pick 'n' Grin in Knoxville, and there are a few other local stores in the nine-county area around Knoxville, in addition to Guitar Center, and RMC in Knoxville. Take a look back through the first two parts of the ETTB threads and you'll see mentions of all the stores and luthiers in this area that we've talked about previously.

I don't know of any of us here who have embraced fretless to the extent you have. I personally love fretless and am getting much more into it these days.

I would say, and chime in everyone, bring all the ones you love the best and want to share. I have several lower-end fretlesses that I'll bring to the GTG as well.

Jeff, sounds like a invite to Rusty might be in order. Who knows if he could attend the Oct. 10 GTG, but if there might be a good DB component happening, if his schedule permits, he might be interested. ?

OK - someone run the date and place by me again for the event on the 18th? I'd have to borrow my ex-wife's minivan to make it
happen as I drive a Camry and can barely get a single cabinet and my rack into it.

ChickenDog aka Mike nice to meet you again in person Saturday night.

I've got multiple amps, cabinets, 1 electric bass, a 5 string Dean acoustic/electric, Ergo 4 string EUB and some other stuff. Some of which I
would not mind selling, but in order to not violate the rules on TB I am not going to say what is for sale or how much $ involved. ;)
