East Tennessee Talkbass

Howdy!

I'm glad this thread keeps popping up in my watched threads emails :) Living overseas for the past several years has put into perspective just how nice of a place Knoxville is. Going home for the holidays is always that much sweeter. Can't wait to be back this Christmas.

I've got myself a Fender Am. Pro Jazz bass here in Bangkok, but no band. I've never been in one and am a bit nervous to try, but I would love to be able to play along with a drummer. Would certainly help me improve

What’s up b-bottom?

In a band?
Yup. Two actually. One is an instrumental surf rock band name the Appalachian Surf team. We play out maybe a few times a year. Mostly beer fests, record stores and stuff like that. Surf music tends to not lend itself to a typical bar setting.

The other band is a heavy rock power trio named Mass Driver. That band plays out much much more. And where as the first band stays more local, the other band plays regionally and a bit beyond. I play bass and cover the vocals in that band. You can check it out here

Oh yeah! I know of Mass Driver. I played in Annandale for a bit.

Babylon 5 reference alert!

Mass Driver live at Ciderville Music Barn? Not your typical power trio venue!

I actually got the name from Halo :)

Nah it's not a typical venue at all for our type of music. We're also recording the show and having a video shot of the set. It's a really cool place with a ton of history. So it'll be a very cool spot for a show and it'll look good on video.
It's a free show so stop on out and be apart of it. It'll be a really kickass experience

That's cool man. I think that we have a show with them in December at the Concourse. Who are you playing with now?
Kategory Five, which is gonna take a pause for a bit due to our singer having health issues. So, I will be starting up something new... jamming with a phenomenal singer later today. If it goes well, we will be gig ready in no time.

And Jeff Roller was nice enough to let me sub for him, and play 2 weddings with the Clint Keeton Band. That was a blast! I’m hoping I get to do that again, when Jeff is unable.
