We haven't done much with the list of local gig venues lately, so I'll add a few more that I've come across. All in Knoxville unless otherwise noted.

I definitely invite ETTB to add their own, especially if you've played there this year.

Just a quick show of hands - who all has a Genzler amp set-up here in the Knoxville/East Tenn area?

I'll go first. I have the MG-350-10-2 combo, with the 10-2 extension cab.

Also, has anyone here been to Lane Music on Kingston Pike since they moved this year? If you have, what kind of Genzler inventory are they stocking? I'm asking on behalf of a player in WNC who is thinking of going Genzler and may be coming over this way soon to check some out.

Not ignoring you, Michael. I still have a GBE 750 and the hundred pound xb2 410. I continue to use the 410 on gigs but typically go with the Sansamp RBI and Crown power amp. Also have a Mesa Walkabout 12 for rehearsal and my little Tech21 for practice at home. I did recently add to the bass collection with a Lipstick red Kubicki Key Factor 5 I picked up here from BTBOTTOM (Tad Kinchla, Blues Traveler bassist).

Definitely not, Richard. You are at least still trying to be present on TB. It's surprising how many of the old ETTB gang have not posted on TB for months, or in some cases, years. (Hard to believe, but true!)

I may have started the ETTB thread, but I sure can't keep everyone interested in participating here. We have to do that ourselves.

I dislike how this forum software stops sending email of new posts if you don't go to the thread you're following right away. That has allowed a lot of our gang to "fall away."

Good to see you, and glad to hear you are still active musically.

Their current bassist is really good, going on the videos I've seen. Anybody here know him? He's not one of the ETTB gang.

I'm looking forward to seeing them at Brackin's on Jan. 31 at 8. They play Ale Rae's again on March 1.

Dug around a bit more, and found that their bass player's name is Dave Bullen. He's been with them since at least 2019. I'm looking forward to meeting and talking with Dave at Brackin's on Jan. 31 next week. I'll invite him to join us on Talkbass- I don't think he's on here, at least not under his real name.

If anyone wants to come hear a really good band, PM me and we'll talk it up to go grab a table at Brackin's.

I also have looked up a few of our past ETTB regulars by username and found that a number of them have not posted on Talkbass in some time. Most of those not in the last six months or so, and several appear to have left TB. I think if someone hasn't posted in over a year, it's a good bet that life circumstances have gotten in the way, or maybe they just aren't interested in being here these days. I hope we can get our little community back up and happening again on some level. I'm glad for some of the new members of ETTB, like @MaxSpinrun and @Pontiac Thrasher- and for the remaining old people here like myself, Richard (@iamoldschool) and @Jeff Elkins, who've all continued to post about their goings-on.

Life circumstances certainly do, @Michael Vee ! This time last year we had two adult children living in the house; both have now moved to their own places (one off to grad school in Syracuse). We’ve begun some serious home repair/renovation. And I took a FT job—moving away from consulting, where I had more control of my free time. Late last year I started a digital diet, getting off of FB and limiting other online time/presence. Partly the job helped (?) with that, as I need to be focused 8-5. I also joined a gym. 👀

Couple that with no significant gigs to report, a general dialing down of my bass practice (I’m learning and playing old-time banjo more and more these days), and my general dislike of the new TB platform, I have little worthwhile/relevant things to discuss with the group!

Glad to still hang when I can, glad to hear when others are doing well and what everyone is up to!

That's quite a lot that went on in your life in 2024, Jeff! Wow. A lot of those things are very time-consuming, indeed. Periodically, I think all of us have to take time to reorder priorities in life.

I have gotten used to the new TB platform, but as I said late last year, I really don't like that the forum will not continue to email notices of new posts to a watched thread unless you visit the thread each time. It's really easy to get completely out of touch on a thread. I watch both the Mesa Subway and Genzler official threads, but I let a week go by and I miss dozens of posts because TB is not notifying me and keeping my awareness up. I think that kind of thing is happening here as well.

I'm grateful for those of us who continue to put in appearances here and keep it going on some level, and as I said, I'm hopeful we can pick things back up some in 2025. -- MV

Welcome, Brian! I'm just down the road from you.

It's good to see some new people on ETTB. This tjread/group has been around for a long time, to the point where a lot of the originals are gone from Talkbass completely and others are off lurking, but there are a lot of bassists still around in east Tennessee and quite a few well-known people are still around here. It's a good time to join up here! We look forward to hearing more from you guys.
