New here in Kodak TN, glad to find an active TB thread based in the area! I'm an amateur musician but really enjoy playing.
Welcome, @Pontiac Thrasher! Good to see you here. Tell these guys some of your GTO stories.. also post some of the pictures from your rehearsal room at your old place in California.. all those Peaveys!

I know Riverfront used to have music but they have stopped. There's a new restaurant called Fusion at the Ridgefield's Golf & Athletic Club, but haven't heard if they do live music there. They certainly have the room if they wanted. Maybe someone else will chime in who knows.
Here is what it took to keep up with the group there: had a running uphill battle every week for about seven weeks when I first joined, they kept turning up the stacks, so I finally showed up with what I called the nuclear option running 900 clean watts into a pair of JBL 18's in the lower Peavey cabs, and about 450 effects watts into a pair of JBL 15s in the upper Peavey cabs.
That set everyone including myself back on our heels, the bass was solved:
I did plug in my Mesa D800+ into those cabs with those guys before leaving, and it worked fine as frog hair : )
Then my father passed away and Mom agreed with me and my gf that it was best to escape California and head for the hills, so now we are in Kodak, and thanking God we are here. The band and I were not on the same page (or book even...) spirituality wise, so as fun as the playing was, am as glad to have moved on from that group as being done with California.

Jackfunk, I don't know of anyone in the ETTB group that has a Serek. There may be someone lurking in here, though.

Hi there - it's been a minute since I've been here so a quick summary
1) The Lakland 44-64 I bought used a few months ago is the new gig bass. The Precision Plus is definitely on backup #2 duty. Probably permanent.
2) Fine Colombians played the Concourse in July then did a road gig at Tybee Post Theater at Tybee Island GA which did fabulous. Sold the place out - 210 tickets at $30 a head and the crowd was a drunken dancing riot - it was super fun. The venue emailed me 2 days later to say "We must, must have you back in 2024" so we'll be there again June 8, 2024. A little advance planning.
3) Might - might -- have a booking agent for the band lined up after months of working on it. The Tybee Post sellout caught the eye of a group in ATL who also books bands at that venue who has been in contact but nothing firm. Exchanging emails back and forth for a couple weeks now.
4) We're playing the Bijou again but I can't say the date until they publicly proclaim it will be happening.
Early 2024.
5) next Fine Colombians show is Crafty Bastard West on 9/8. Tickets on sale, they're doing a beer promotion with a beer they named The Fine Colombian after us in conjunction with Alliance Brewing. They and Alliance are doing a ticket promo give away in the next couple weeks.
6) my Americana "band" Jammers of the Apocalypse (is it a band if you don't play any gigs?) that's been together on and off for 20+years with various member changes and a couple name changes along the way is actually - hold the phone - going to play a gig at Pres Pub on Wed 9/6. Our first gig since 2020. Getting paid the usual $300 split 7 ways
don't really care about that. Playing really loud in a small bar is its own reward. Scott
I've got a Sacramento. It's one of my favorite basses... like a Rickenbacker, but without the crappy bridge design, weird scale length, and pickup hardware that gets in the way.
I have played that bass JJ is talking about. Awesome, feel playability and tone. If you play one you will probably want one. JJ’s was very special.
Pontiac, have you had a chance to check out any of the music venues in Knoxville yet?
ETTB: It might be good if we were to compile a list of venues you've played lately and then other places that we know are doing live music again.

None yet, busy being a caregiver for my Mom and getting life arranged here in Tennessee, but thoroughly enjoying the neighbors and being back amongst Americans!
It went well. We had about 30-40 people come out, typical Pres Pub midweek thing. I expect we'll play there again over the winter or something.
Next - Fine Colombians at the Bijou Jan 6. Tickets on sale now.
Wow! Quite the dry spell with no posts since October! For me, it’s simply because I haven’t played any gigs for a while. We are all getting older and along with that comes various aches, pains, sickness and job-related duties. Plus, none of my gear has really changed. Still, none of my ETTB buddies have had the opportunity to play the following: Kubicki key factor 5, Rickenbacker 4003S5, Mesa Walkabout Scout 12. Plus, I changed my trusty P5 to a maple fingerboard neck. We desperately need a GTG! What’s the point in having cool gear if you can’t share it with like-minded friends?
Amen, Richard! We DO need a GTG. First we need a central venue. Let's talk up some ideas and shoot for early spring, so everyone can get it on their calendars well in advance.
We are due one! The last big one was well over 12 years ago. We have a lot of players here that are new to the area.
I’m able to host in Morristown at my church, but we’ve had a couple there in the past that were not well attended.
Following up on what Richard said, an impediment to planning a GTG is going to be getting the word out. We don't know who all is watching this thread at present. We have had a fair number of TB'ers post over the years, but how many of them would see a new post here announcing a GTG? I suspect we've had more than a few people unwatch as the thread slowed down post-pandemic.
Those of you who weren't around for the first ones we did in the early 2010's missed a great time. I think we are hoping to recreate those experiences with a 2024 gathering of east Tennessee bassists.
