Well - - - I bought a Lakland 4 string off reverb.com from a store in New Jersey. A used 2018 44-64, black with a white pickguard. Popped a fresh set of GHS flatwounds on and after 2 weeks of ownership I am really liking it quite a bit. Sounds every bit as good as my USA P bass and feels more playable. 1.6" width at the top nut. Paid $1000 used for it and decided if I didn't like it the $1000 would come back my way reselling it but thinking this bass is a keeper. Came with a nice leather strap with strap locks and a gig bag too, neither of which I have any particular need for ...
Now have the Dean 5 string acoustic/electric, a Tech 21 practice amp, a Boss Octave pedal and other various bass sundries I'm not using (um, like a nice leather strap with strap locks and a gig bag recently acquired) that need to be sold to cover the $$$ of this thing. Yeah, I did it ass backwards but I wanted the Lakland and my Visa card was handy ... so ... what's done is done

Hey Scott! Thanks for checking in. Congrats on the new Lakland! You should post a pic.
We used to have at least 20 regulars here on ETTB. I'm not sure where they've all gotten off to. Some of them may not even be active on Talkbass anymore. They sure aren't posting since the pandemic like before.
Sometime soon, I plan to run through the list of everyone who's posted here and see how many are still doing TB.

I'm on here on and off - because my real life is just completely nuts. I routinely work 50-60 hours a week and trying to keep up with yard work and groceries and the occasional gig just pushes everything to the side for months on end sometimes. I look up - it's October. A few minutes goes by - March.
I ordered that used Lakland, got some strings, put the strings on and played the bass for about a minute and then set it down for a week. Because I couldn't get to it. Ugh.
The good news is that I am really really really going to try to retire in 2025. The original goal from a few years back was 2028. I'm running my own operation and created a monster that eats up 10-12 hours a day 5-6 days a week and I have to answer email 2-3 hours a day even while on vacation, Easter, New Years Day, there is no getting away from it. I'm glad I'm my own boss, the $ is good, but it's just all too much a lot of the time ..

I do something similar. Some friends prompted me to start building after I did some refrets and setups for them. I have no time to cut my own bodies and glue necks together from raw lumber. So, I source quality US or MIJ unfinished necks and US made bodies. I reshape the neck and headstock, do my magic to make it play like a boutique bass, route the body if needed & get it painted, make a custom pickguard, obsess over every detail, etc etc etc. Now, I’ve got 6 orders in various stages and have had to stop taking requests LOL! It’s a lot of therapeutic fun for not much money, but I love the friendships I’ve formed, and the appreciation I’ve gotten. Here’s some finished ones.

That’s awesome, I’ve only done a few using mjt or fender bodies and necks and doing all the wiring… but very impressive doing all from the ground up basically
Stopped by Lane Music in Knoxville. Did not know they were a Genzler Amplification dealer. Also saw Lakland basses also. I love my Genzler BA 15-3 SLT CAB combined with my Mesa D800+ head, all I can use and then some. Genzler IMHO, is so underrated.

I got them from Rocket Music, as they not only discounted them, but did free shipping and no sales tax. If I'd known about Lane last year, I would have asked if they could match the discount, and paid the sales tax, to support a local music store. Oh well.

Here is my small modular VERY powerful rig!
They have a BA15-3 BA210-3 stack with either the MG800 or MG 350 available to drive them. I am going to go by because I want to hear the 210-3 paired with the 15-3 I already have.
Thanks. I’ve set a goal to build my first neck by the end of 2024. I’ve got everything needed times 3 or more, and body blanks too, to cut my own shapes. We’ll see if life gets in the way LOL. Keep doing what you do, watch YouTube, read books, buy tools, and soon you’ll be crazy like me and trying to your hand at spraying nitro in your front yard.

Nor did I! We've not talked about Lane Music before in ETTB, and they don't have a media person here on Talkbass. They should!
