Jeff- Thanks for sharing the pictures. It must have been a wonderful service, and I wish I'd been there to be a part of it. I have never been to your church for a Sunday service, just for the ETTB get-togethers of years ago. I will make a point of coming to a service in 2023, hopefully in January.

Hey Scott! Sure wish you'd posted the gig here.. I would have come out. Been too long since we hung out on the Star of Knoxville for the Blues Cruise!

Everybody is here as far as I know, just keeping a low TB profile. Hopefully most are watching the thread. I post "got gigs?" occasionally but either ETTB isn't gigging a lot right now or they just aren't saying they are.

Okay everybody! Come out of the woodwork! What's going on here in 2023?

Light time of year for sure.

February 4th I’m subbing with Smooth Sailor, and Feb 10th I’m playing w the Coveralls. Both shows at Scruffy City Hall.

We're playing the Concourse on March 10. May well be our last club date in Knoxville. We got 600+ to turn out at the Bijou and it occurs that we could do that once a year and play road gigs 1x or 2x a month, which is the current idea ...

Wish I had the time to be in another band but my work life has gotten to the point where I don't reliably have free time. Still playing Americana music, casually, with the guys who used to call themselves Americana Allstarz - now we're going by Jammers Of The Apocalypse. We're now on year #22 of this. We end up playing one or two gigs a year with zero effort made to obtain said gig. I think the last time Scott asked Vince, one of the guitar players, "You guys want to play a gig for $200 at Pres Pub or what???? Do you play any gigs? Come on guys". Too funny.

My current goal is to clear out some of the unused bass stuff and buy a Lakland 4 string. More a long term goal then a do this right now kind of goal.

I’m in hiatus most likely for the next decade. My boys both play travel baseball and aau basketball and their ages are far enough apart, that they have to play on different teams. I’m sure I’ll still jam with friends, record, and maybe fill in or do some stuff for fun, but I’m def not looking to seriously get back at it. It’s time to help them try to fulfill their dreams.

Or you could go see them in Tybee Island this summer.. maybe not.

I will be between productions that week in March, so probably will go see them, and will talk up a ETTB table at the Concourse here. Save the date!

Hey, @BWB! I didn't know Kevin K is playing drums with the band. I've worked several theatre shows with him a while back, but haven't seen him in 5-6 years. Tell him I said hello!

Lemme throw this out while I'm thinking about it. I've been offered the chair for a theatre production in mid-late April here in Knoxville, but I have another production the week before and I'm not sure I'm up to two consecutive shows. Any ETTB'ers interested in finding out more- PM me and I'll give you the dates and details.

@Jeff Elkins, I would ask you, but I think you are still abroad.

Yeah, I met Kevin a few years back when I was still playing some fill in blues gigs here and there. Our original drummer had to drop out and he joined us around a year ago. Sure can nail that kick drum :) and a good guy to boot. We're now rehearsing at his house.

We've got other gigs sort of circling around waiting to be confirmed plus I am almost certain the Bijou would be on tap again for sometime in 2024. Chattanooga, a couple other places. MAKE UP YOUR MINDS ALREADY.

Same here. Looking to get another Lakland, idea is a 44-02 and put in a John East UniPre with the sweepable mids.

Kevin's indeed a good guy. I really liked working with him. I can sure imagine him playing Steely Dan tunes. He's got some chops! I hope some of you other ETTB'ers get a chance to work with him sometime.

Hey Ken, thanks for checking in. I'm in the same position, I have several older instruments that I might be interested in passing along eventually. Millenniums were nice basses in their time!

You could start with Joy of Music School in Knoxville. They accept donations of instruments for their students who can't afford them. (865) 525-6806 and [email protected]

There are a good number of ETTB'ers who play at churches that may like to have a "house bass". Anyone?

I had no idea. The Joy of Music school? Right close to UT campus. I'll bring it there this week.
