Yup, "oh boy" is perfectly reasonable here since this thread has been flogged in every way imaginable.

You need to go through the post more carefully. NEVER once did I write that RIC needed to challenge any faker instrument sold second hand in order to maintain their rights to their trademarked brand.

What I have repeatedly and correctly stated was that EBay has a policy not to sell copyright infringed items on their site. That is what the majority of those posting on this thread can't seen to get a handle on.

Others wrote what you claim that I wrote, and that is incorrect. I defy you to pull up that quote attached to my name. If you can't get the details straight and you wrongly place quotes, the rest of your argument is irrelevant.

This is what I was referring to. Since this thread is about an old bass on ebay then I am assuming you feel that this also applied to older instruments as well. I said in the previous post that everyone is aware that ebay pulled the ad, I am not disputing that. I am saying that there is no need for it to be flagged and that while at one time there might have been a violation since this bass was not at all advertised as a Ric nor is it labeled as such AND it was manufactured so long ago that it being pulled from ebay is ridiculous. And of course it was fan boys or an employee that got it removed. I know because there are countless old Japanese lawsuit instruments on ebay all the time that mimic Fenders and Gibsons and they don't get pulled.

Reopen the ad, use the Kay model number no Ric reference and just place a link to a photo in the description area? Or just the Kay model with no link and let a seller google what it is.

That's one way the linear amplifier sellers get by the FCC police on ebay that target CB operators.

Nope, my comment was about RIC needed to pursue manufacturers that use their trademarked features. I wholeheartedly support a companies right to insure their product remains unique.

Ebay's rules clearly state that you can't sell infringed goods on their site. The Faker in question clearly has several of the traits that make it an infringed item, which once again Ebay will not allow to sell on their site, obviously.

If Kay were make the same exact bass today, RIC would undoubtedly get their lawyers involved to block the manufacture, because that is what they must do. I only wish Gibson would have done the same with the Les Paul. Kinda takes the luster off such an iconic instrument when everyone makes them and the quality is all over the place.
