Ebay Find?

Well, I found it on Ebay... but what's the deal?

Kinda pretty - Crazy Expensive (only a select few builders can command that kind of coin)

Sound holes are Feet?

Seller's name is "makesfire" - maybe it's firewood?

Yeah I think the seller may be slightly disconnected from reality. Just because he was fool enough to (supposedly) pay $14,000 for that bass doesn't mean anyone else will be paying $10,000. For all I know it might play and sound better than any Fodera, but the only reason people pay Fodera prices is because they know concretely that they are getting something "worth" that much to many pro musicians before them. With this one, there is no such established value.

Cheap Case aside,

I noticed JSP Guitars is a registered TB member - anyone have any experience with other instruments by JSP?

I can't find much on-line, but based on the auction, there's some serious Wood/Design/Luthier skills at work...

Here are the specifications for you to consider:

35" scale
Norstrand Big Singles
Audere Z5 preamp
Flamed Maple body
Figured Maple top
Flush mounted dunlop strap locks
Beautifully figured solid Ebony neck
Set neck
Maple fretlines
Blue abalone dot inlays
Sperzel locking tuners

It looks pretty and I'm sure it sounds good and is well made but nothing about this says $10,000

Oh - I'm not considering it (not @ 10k) - just caught me off guard to see something from an unknown (to me anyway) luthier... and was hoping someone might be able to shed some light...

I don't have a problem with 10K basses - but they need pedigree/history...

The wood choices/design here couldn't be a first build...
