eBay red flags

Why ? You've bought the Korg, it's in transit and you have buyer's cover if it's not as advertised.

Leaving positive, negative or neutral feedback won't change the above one iota.

They likely have other items to sell and are looking for a head start with feedback stats.
Yep, we all have to start at the beginning with Ø feedback.

No way, would never. Usually going into one with no history I would drop a few questions and establish a conversation and feel it out a little. noObs often are unsure how it works so I expect some noObiness but you can get an idea before bidding. In the OP situation I would not even respond until after I see the item. If they are fumbling too much I would seek to end the transaction and get a refund.

For all you know it could be a fantastic transaction.

On the other hand, it could be the worst day of your life.

Since it’s impossible to know for sure, my sage advice is to pretend you’re a warthog and sing “Hakuna Matata” over and over until the Korg arrives.
Hauna Matata, what a lovely sound! I love it. I have an amp coming from GC and will follow your advice while waiting. LOL.😂🤣😅

He messages me if I can leave feedback before I get the item..

Response: "I leave feedback when the transaction is complete.
The transaction is "Complete" when the buyer has received the item - free of shipping damage, (especially if the seller did not adequately pack the item) and has confirmed it's authentic, "as described" and in proper working order."

Then after the seller sent the item..
"Sent" means it's in possession of the carrier - not "a shipping label has been created". (one of my pet peeves)

Hopefully, this is just an inexperience/naive seller, however:
Track your package so you know when it scheduled to arrive.
Since "caution flags" have been raised, be prepared for its arrival;
  • have your equipment setup so you're ready to plug the Korg in and test it as soon as it arrives.
  • Continuously video the unboxing and your "testing" of the item. (an inexpensive camera tripod will simplify this process).
