Ebay situation

Looks like after this is over I'm done with eBay and just doing TB classifieds and Craigslist. They said they'd have the answer to the dispute(Ebays verdict) within 72 hours.
So, *fingers crossed* by the end of the weekend I'll see what they say.

You can get screwed in any transaction to be fair . . .

If you get screwed on this, it will serve as an expensive lesson - ALWAYS protect yourself. Unelss it's something you're willing to eat the cost of if things go badly, ALWAYS ship insured with signature required. Just make sure you include those costs in the shipping charges in your auction. Shipping insurance is protection for both of you, and a lot of buyers will prefer it, espcially for expensive or delicate items.

Indeed, but Ebay's ass-backwards policies make it a bit easier to get screwed than on TB or Craiglist.

I haven't used Ebay for anything in years...just not worth the hassle.

And I always make sure my shipments are signature required. It's the only chance you have at covering your butt.

This. ALWAYS REQUIRE A SIGNATURE AND GET INSURANCE.

Its insuring things on YOUR end, not the buyer's side. If there's a claim, you'd be the one to make it...and why wouldn't you REQUIRE a signature as proof of delivery. At least that way, if the signature isn't gotten, the customer signs off on the no signature/delivery drop off waiver, or the signature is of a random...it's not YOUR loss...

I'm not the smartest guy on earth, but I always insure expensive shipments and I would never ship something like that without a signature. Not the most helpful observation, but I would bank on having some problems with Paypal in the near future.

Depends on which side of the coin you lay. As a seller it is easier, as a buyer there is nothing if you get screwed by the seller.

Congrats! But I would say that you got lucky. Or this guy has a history of running this scam that eBay was aware of. Insurance and "signature required" are your friends when fulfilling an eBay sale.
