EBMM price - ouch!

Of course, give Gibson's problems, it's entirely possible that the entire guitar manufacturing industry could be in trouble given the lack of demand and are pricing guitars and basses higher in an attempt to compensate for lost revenue/demand. Time will tell.

Mesa Subway 15” for $899? $900 bucks? $1,800 for 2 -15’s?
I know there great but they are selling very well. So demand will dictate EBMM’s Street price.
BTW I bought a mint SR5 HH here on TB about a year ago for $1,150... same bass at my local GC was $1999(PDN).

I have major GAS for the new Bongo 4H in that Firemist Purple but not t the price they’re asking. In two years I’ll be able to buy one for 1100 on here. I can wait. I love their gear but the prices are absurd for what you get.
True, but I believe Fender raised prices on the AS models 2-3 years in a row. If you go back to 2012, I think the MAP on Ps was $1149 and $1199 on Js. I can't say for sure, because the Fender price list used MSRP figures then.
Here's the thing--as was said above, the price increase puts EBMM in a different ballpark. Especially because the boutiques are moving down-market.
Lakland started a USA Classic Series about 2-3 years ago--just about all the features of their US basses, but limited color choices and no birdseye on the maple boards. The passive P in the Classic Series runs $2273 at Sweetwater (the J is $2289--not sure what's up with those odd figures). The EBMM Caprice is nice, but I'd pay $74 more for the US Lakland every day and twice on Sunday myself. (My favorite necks, bar none.)
Sadowsky launched the Satin series, which puts people into an NYC Sad at $3K. And the new (MIJ) Metro Express line is priced under $2K.
And those are just the boutiques competing in the same price range as new EBMMs that I know of off the top of my head. There are undoubtedly more. It'll be interesting to see if and how much this hurts EBMM's sales.
My baby is a double pup and I can get the classic single pup Stingray sound out of it, plus heaps more with the dual pups. I am glad I bought the dual pups model as I get all the classic sounds and more.
Consider yourselves lucky all you guys in the US as prices here in Australia are way higher for the same basses you guys are talking about. $3500AU - $4500AU and higher for certain models either 4 or 5 strings. At todays exchange rate that would be approx $2700US - $3480US for comparison. Exchange rates, and import taxes etc add to the cost here. I bought my EBMMSR5 about a year ago (Mar 2017) here in Aust. for more than $4000AU but thats nothing unusual in this country as everything cost more to import from overseas, plus the Govt here is thinking of imposing an extra tax on items purchased over the internet because major stores are missing out as purchases can be made cheaper online. Anyway back to the discussion..sorry.
It seems a real pity that the US price has gone up and that will really put a huge dent in exports out of the US to countries like Australia when prices for new and even second hand ones here are already exorbitant. Nobody here will want to order a MM when you have to sell the shirt off your back to afford one in this country.
They are great basses though and for my 2 cents worth I'm glad I bought it a year ago and not facing an increased price soon here. You would need to be a pro working muso to afford one now. Here is my beautiful dual pup 5.
well..I know all about how that works with my girlfriend..but the bass guitar doesnt do that for me..haha..
When I got my AS lefty P new in '08, it was $1149. Now, 10 years later, a lefty US P is $1499. Going up $350 in 10 years is not that bad, IMHO.
Glad I jumped on my Ray HH last fall for $1749. I was going to buy a 5 or a Cutlass but that increase overnight for the exact same bass on Sweetwater, and I mean the exact same bass down to the serial number, is ridiculous.
Makes me happy I bought when I did. Bought a used Stingray Classic for $1,200 at GC in 2014 ($2,400 new now) and a NOS Stingray 5 in 2016 for $1,400 ($2,400 new now).
Also means increased used value should I ever want to sell.

Its my understanding they have never and will never make multiple pickups with the import sterling line and he is wanting an HH.
Those odd figures are usually marketing. It gives people the impression that a lot of thought and effort was put into calculating the absolute lowest price possible.
Sterling has given lots of info/opinions over the years about how they have had to change to keep in the business.
They used to be an 80% bass / 20% guitar company- but that has essentially been reversed this century.
Have you seen the prices their electric guitars sell for? It is eye watering.
But if you are into EBMM- not much else will do.
I do hear what people are saying about pricing though- at this point I would only buy used EBMM instruments.

no, they're killing it in the guitar market right now. The John Petrucci models are big sellers. Huge brand amongst metal guys.
in fact at one point Sterling said that if it wasn't for John Petrucci- and his endorsement deal with EBMM- they might be out of business.

Glad I snapped my Caprice for 1300 USD last year (mint), I could not justify to pay > 2000 USD for it even though I absolutely LOVE that instrument.
Wait...does this mean this price increase also gave value to my Big Al? (1400 USD new, that was a bargain now that I think of it)
