My 5 is heavier than I wanted (9.5 pounds) but after initial adjustment I’m totally fine with it. The Specials are so ergonomically wonderful it feels like a perfect fit.

I'm not worried about weight either … but I draw the line at 92 lbs.!!

Just checking in nothing really new to say other than I’m loving the Special. Had a first gig with a new project and they were all very complimentary over how well it looks and sounds. Also the versatility is really a bonus. Everything from pop to reggae to classic rock, pick and fingers. It covers it all and looks great under the lights!
Me too, but I supposed it is like a good old wine ageing in an obscure cave (reserve) therefore the old pickups.
Shouldn’t be too difficult to do with a push pull knob modification .
The most difficult part would be finding the right person to do the work.
Thanks for the Quickguards tip guys, I texted Mike and we're all set up for a tortoise pickguard in about 3 weeks.

I've had my SR5H special for a couple of months and every time a bring something else to rehearsal everyone asks where the SR is....
I mentioned this on another post before finding this thread and thought this would be a good place to ask.
I just got my Stingray Special 5 HH, ebony board, in Charcoal Sparkle today. I love the improvements on these new Stingrays but the fret work is disappointing. Especially for a bass in this price range and for what I've come to expect from Ernie Ball. You can feel the fret edges on the side of the neck, Both sides, every fret all the way up and down the neck. It's actually pretty bad. I've experienced this before on cheap basses but not a $2300 bass and certainly not a Stingray. I've been told that this happens after the wood shrinks. This is a brand new Special.
Like I said, I love the bass otherwise and Ill take it to Mike Lull and have him fix it. I'm just wondering if this is common. Has anyone else had this problem?

Wood shrinks. It's what wood does. The perfectly set-up bass may develop sharp edges very quickly, depending on the humidity changes. I imagine California and Washington have very different climates.
