EBMM StingRay Special Club

I have fallen in love with my Stingray again. I didn't play much bass (or guitar) in 2020. You'd think I'd play more because of COVID but I'm definitely hammering down this year :)

Glad to be included in the Stingray club. Years ago when I was young and stupid, I acquired a Stingray that had led a pretty abused life. I literally got the bass in parts in a box. Someone had stripped the finish, and pretty much left it at that. I reassembled it and kept it for a while, but sold it for whatever the flavor of the day was at the time. Always regretted that. It had a gorgeous birds eye in the neck. Anyway, got this to make amends for that mistake long ago. Loving it. When I first got it, I was a bit unsure, but changing the strings made it a completely different beast (DR's). Glad to be here!

Congrats!
Which set of DR's did you use?
It's time to replace my stock Slinkies which have long been my go-to strings, but in the spirit of stepping outside my comfort zone have been considering a set of Sunbeams...

Well, oddly enough, they were Sunbeams. Changed every aspect of the bass, notably the B. Where I was only liking the 2nd position with the stock strings, I found myself liking all pickup positions with a new set. Probably least favorite is middle position, which I thought would be my fave (from YEARS of playing Jazzes).

Nickel Low Riders, trust me on this one ☝️
The weird thing is that was the first set of Sunbeams I've ever bought. Was supporting the local music store and they were out of what I would usually get, Low Beams or High Beams depending on.my mood. But the Sunbeams are fine. Off topic, but I did try some Black Beauties on my fretless Modulus...LOVE those.

I don't have a special, yet, but noticed that the Musicman website shows all the colors have been discontinued, so when will they announce the new colors and what colors/finishes (and fingerboards) would you like to see? I like Teal and some shades of green. The Cruz Teal was kind of bright and the Chopper blue was good. Dropped Copper was kind of classy looking. I had never considered a white bass, but a Stingray in white would be nice.

Anybody else notice the typo on the green 4 string finish name?

They have it listed as “Forest Green”, twice, while the 5 is listed as “Frost Green Pearl”. I think when ZZsounds had these posted before it was supposed to be “Frost Green Pearl”.

Oops
