Thanks! I have literally never felt a neck as good as this one. They really took everything I liked and gave more and got rid of the clickity clack that I got rid of my last mm for.
Agreed. I already have two Specials, but that Amethyst Sparkle finish is making me want a third!

I have to admit, as a kid I must have seen that movie a good 3 or 4 times, before I actually got that joke.
Same here. The neck is one of, if not the best I've ever felt and they "fixed" everything I didn't care for with my previous 'Rays.

New aged pick guard on the Special. Now it matches my Sterling.
WHat's up with the thumbrest on the sparkly one? Did you drill an extra hole in the pickguard and body for it? Aren't these designed to fit the existing holes?
They don't make one for the EBMM Sterling. That's a jazz bass version, works perfectly with the extra hole. I guess it's an "Almost Zero Mod".
When I had my Sterling 5 I tried 2 or 3 different ones and none of them worked.

I'm a bit late but i'd like the return of the HS option instead of HH and the SLO neck option also. Select run of Big Al basses would be a cool return also. Currently saving up for a Special 5 HH but if any of these come true I might go that route.
I traded for a Stingray special, jet black, ebony fretboard. The guy I did business with installed a matte black pickguard and (I think) matte black control plate. I lost a lightweight Sadowsky MV4 in the trade, so… I feel like I gave up a lot. I didn’t love the Sadowsky and it kinda reaffirmed my notion that my jazz basses should be passive with single coils, and I’ve always been curious about the Stingrays. I love the sound, but I haven’t played one in years and really had no idea what my preferences were when I did. Still, I took the leap.
I can honestly say that I’ve never played a more well constructed or ergonomic bass guitar. It is lightweight, well balanced, and pretty much perfect in terms of fit/finish. I didn’t think I’d love the “all-blackness” of it, but I’ll be darned if it isn’t one of the crispest overall looks I’ve seen in person. The neck is just fuggettabouddit… so smooth, so comfortable, and everything seems easier to play despite the wider nut. I’m thinking the neck thickness and fretboard radius really strike my fancy, which is crazy. I thought I was a jazz bass guy! Maybe I’m actually a Stingray guy instead?
I’ll post pics soon.

I think the neck width is a happy medium, narrow enough to please J bass folks and wide enough not to annoy P bass people
