Mmmmm, Buttercream. I wanted the limited-edition Buttercream in 2006---2008?. I forget exactly. 2008 sounds right.

Smart move!!Hoo boy, I’m just glad I opted to pick up my burnt ends instead of waiting for the new colours.
Right?! Gun to the head, I could get behind a Sea Breeze (in that case, pretty much mandatory to wear white loafers with no socks)... I like Crockett & Tubbs as much as the next guy/gal, but these new colours just aren't my bag.Smart move!!
My aqua sparkle 5hh had ebony. No it wasnt brighter than maple. It was in between maple and rosewood. Ebony has a more even response up and down the fretboard and the notes bloom immediately. It has more note operation than maple and rosewood. With rosewood, the notes bloom . With maple the notes punch. With ebony it's more like piano sustains. It's immediate and it holds .anyone have a stingray special with an ebony fretboard? How you you like the sound? Is it brighter sounding then a maple fretboard?
That honeyburst is lovely. I almost got a burnt ends thinking it would look a bit more like Honey (based on their site images). I couldn't, though: too much burn on those ends!Yes, they need to bring back honeyburst!
Love mine! Although, it's a 2007 ceramic, not a Special. But it IS still Honeyburst!

I said the same thing about sunburst and natural and white. But they have all gone the way of the dodo bird!!
In the other release thread I mentioned that this was disappointing and that the colors look similar to the Ray 4’s. I was hoping for a production run of short scales. Also Sterling’s NAMM 2023 releases have nothing for bass. I emailed them asking if anything is planned. I’ll post their reply in this thread.Damn these are the worst finishes they have announced in a while.
Maybe more to come?
I’m guessing natural and probably any finish you can see wood grain will be on hold for normal production runs until the supply of swamp ash increases and they stop relying on “premium hardwoods”.
Are they still producing new ones in 2023? They do have models, usually BFR or limited runs in the vault, that are ash. I figured they were avoiding doing a full production run in anything ash like Fender until supply improves. Fender now has some of their higher end vintage models in ash (instead of the pine they started using for the AmProII line) so maybe things are improving.27398276[/URL], member: 107966"]Burnt Ends is transparent, no?
Yeah, I haven't seen one in person but pictures I've seen give me that impression. The BE finish is a bit all over the place. I find some iterations of the finish looks much better than others.

It’s more like gray. I went down to Bass Central to buy one and didn’t like it so much in person. Not much sparkle . It’s very subtle .Looks nice! I can never tell, are these more grayish or purplish on the edges? And how much sparkle is in the finish?

With a good lighting or a spotlight on it there is a lot of sparkle on the Snowy Night, I mean a ton!! Here is a closeup of the headstock which shows sparkling pretty well. After seeing the new colors I'm glad I bought Snowy Night to add to my Maroon Mist and Tectonic Blue Sparkle when I did, but to be fair I'm not convinced these are all the new colors. There has be some ebony and maple fret board combinations we have not yet seen. If I am wrong, very disappointing.View attachment 5030049 .
