EBMM StingRay Special Club

I love the pale yellow, but it would be better with black hardware and an ebony or darker rosewood fretboard. Overall, the Year of Pastels is boring compared to the normal fare from EBMM.
Unfortunately for me this year's colors don't wow me. The Butter Cream would be my pick of those finishes and, if I had to pick a second one, probably the Sea Breeze.
But, if were I in the market for one now, I'd look for a used instrument in a finish I liked better or cross my fingers and wait for '24.
That's just my opinion, though. If others love 'em, great.
Bold move with those four colors. I'm sure they know what sells better than I do, but I assume there will be at least a few others held over. You can't get rid of black, can you?
I'm kind of shocked at how bad these look honestly...
And was hoping to see some Bongo coolness for the 20th anniversary!

That’s what I said about not only
Black, but white , natural , and burst . But stranger things have happened. It just isn’t right not to offer a StingRay in those standard original colors.

... And I can say the same. This years finishes pale in comparison to what I already have, too - at least as far as I'm concerned.
I agree. IMHO these do pale (pun not intended) to what I already have. But at the same time, the more I see them the more happy I am that they are coming out with these colors. Now I can save my money for other things, just not sure for what though. 
The pastels are not my thing. Now, with a non-roasted neck, maple board and unpainted headstock, they might have something there. Surf’s up!
I would like a pueblo pink 4H, then i would get a tort guard and (maybe) white pickup cover. In fact, any of the colors like that would look amazing. They just look super boring with the whites guards - tort would bring any of them out, big time.

Indeed. I think what's a little weird (not bad) about these, is you don't immediately think "Stingray Special" - painted headstock, no roasted maple showing, and very similar colors have been done before, either regular Stingray or Classic Stingray. So, to me they just look like older Stingrays from the 2000s.
If they offered these same colors with ebony and maple fretboards as well as rosewood I think things would be more interesting. That yellow cream would look really appealing in ebony. So are the current colors going to be discontinued soon and these 4 colors are the replacements, or are they just being added to the current colors?

The first run of finishes was the best one, imho. After those ones, I'd save the amethyst one only. I'll pass "M.Y. 23".

It would ideal if EBMM had it set up so you could design your own bass. You could select model, 4 string or 5, one ore 2 humbuckers, paint color, hardware, fret board, pickguard. This would all be chosen from their website where all available options would be presented and with a little computer simulation screen showing what the finished bass would look like. Final pricing would be determined by your choices. Fifty percent down payment (non refundable) and the balance paid when your bass was completed. This way your chances of getting a bass exactly like anyone elses would be unlikely and you have a bass you designed yourself the way you would like it.

I have two HH's but was always curious about the HS, which has been discontinued for quite a while. I do like and use Position 5, but thought that an S instead of an H in the bridge position might give that pickup location some additional clarity that I might like even better. Not sure I'll ever get to find out.
Interesting idea if they'd do it. Might make them even more expensive, so it could be a mixed blessing.
Now I have this image of a Honeyburst SR Special 5 HS, birdseye neck and finger board, no pickguard, and matching headstock. It's making my brain drool!

Isn't that how it used to be? I recall spending some time when I was younger on their website putting different basses together using the designer. This would have been like almost 20 years ago.
