Both the black and white gloss pick guards will really show off any scratches. I wish they had a flat black and flat white available instead. I now always wear a rubber thumb guard when I play because I discovered my thumb nail was causing 99% of the scratches on the guard on all my basses. Which brings up a question, why can't someone come out with a scratch resistant guard? The screen on my phone and tablets never ever scratch even with rough handling. I just breath on my pick guard and it shows a sleek. Wish I weren't so paranoid about pick guard scratches but I've always taken great care of everything I've ever owned including the Snowy Night special with gloss black guard below.

Buy an extra pickguard for each bass and you’ll have a scratch free pickguard anytime you want to see one.

The black pickguard totally changes the look. It seems to make the bass take on a blue-ish hue. That’s not a criticism, it looks great!

I wonder what a black pearl or a blue abalone pickguard would look like on it….

Yeah, I feel your pain... Acrylic is a pretty soft material, unfortunately. Sooo much softer on the Mohs scale than the glass on your devices. But much, much, lighter--there's the tradeoff.

That looks fantastic with the black pickguard. Do you have a picture with its original pickguard? It makes me think about a new one for my snowy night fiver. The amount of blue/grey on the edges is pretty variable with this paint job.

Also, you don't want to have to screw down a glass sheet to your bass. Minor scratches in plastic are fine compared to cracks in glass!

I probably have a picture of it somewhere around but if you go to Zzounds web site the Snowy Night 4H they have pictured is my actual bass. I think a black guard on your Snowy Night 5'er would look great!

I picked up a matte black for mine. With the bridge and pickup covers and fretboard being a matte black, I didn't want that gloss on the pick guard. It also doesn't have that white layer in the middle that shows up on the edges.

I do like to see players making the basses their own . Makes the basses even more special . ;)
