EBMM StingRay Special Club

Slight aside we stopped in a music store on our road trip and I got to check out one of the 70s retro reissues. They’re really nice and if it wasn’t for being $3200 I might want to pick one up.
Got my new Stingray 5HH Blue Sparkle special and I absolutely love it. Weight 9.2 pounds and is perfect. I will post pics once my White pearl pickguard comes in tomorrow.

But used !!! I’ve seen some good deals here on talkbass and GC used.
Also try Bass Central. They are running a huge sale on all EBMM right now. But you have to give them a call for pricing . If you tell them that you are local to Florida you might get an even better deal to make up for having to pay state taxes.
If I lived near Bass Central I’d be divorced and broke, but posting NBD pictures like crazy!
It’s been tough enough not making the trip there when visiting our son now that he lives in FL about an hour away.

That EBMM sale email came in and I immediately pushed delete !! Out of sight , out of mind .
Next time you come to Florida, we can meet up and play some basses and prevent each other from buying anything. Just be sure to bring your spouse .

He lives in Palm Bay, right by the Indian River across from Melbourne Beach.I’d definitely have to bring my wife to make sure I don’t spend any money - and leave my wallet at home.
Actually, I have bought a bass from Bass Central. I ordered my Lakland 55-02 from there with help of TB’er Gard, who worked there at the time. It was a great bass but the ergonomics didn’t fit me well so I finally, and really reluctantly, sold it. Guess what replaced it … my first Stingray! That purchase set the hook and I’ve been a huge Stingray fan ever since. That was the Vintage Sunburst with matching headstock that I eventually replaced with my Honeyburst.

It’s just a lot of money for a bass I’d like to have but don’t have a need for. I still have my SBMM Ray 34ca which might get some use in a future project.
Stingray Special BFR 5 in Kinetic Blue. It plays great as a Stingray should and I love the color. When the light hits it just right if shows shades of purple or green. I found this a couple years ago and is a keeper. If I let it go it would be hard to find another one in this color.

Question for the 5 HH owners ? Is the low B side of your pickups seated lower than the G string side?
I noticed that mine are and that the B sting does not come through as clear as I would prefer. I’m thinking that I need to raise it up some ? It’s not the strings or the set up. I’m thinking that it has to be that the pickups are too far away from the string.
Thoughts ?
