And if you ever feel like changing it up a bit, a black guard looks great on the Burnt Ends! This pic was before i put it on and removed the plastic. Looks much better without the plastic...Duuuuuude. Gorgeous. The burnt ends finish is an instant classic imo. I'm in love with it.

Congratulations !! Looking forward to the pics and review . Enjoy!!After looking for months on Sweetwater and researching these basses I've finally bit the bullet and purchased a Blue Sparkle Special. I have a White Pearl pickguard coming for it to. View attachment 6977921View attachment 6977922

I can’t believe I’m saying this but I, one of the biggest tort fans on TB, agree with you. The black does look better. Nothing wrong with the tort, but the black works.

What a beautiful boy!
The White Pearl should look fantastic with that finish. And that's a four string, so changing puckguards is trivial. You can use the black for one group and the tort for the other and make everybody happy, including yourself.Dave, I'm right there with you! I'm a tort lover from WAY back. But I think I like the black guard on this particular bass even better (even though both look good IMO). One of the trios I jam with have mixed opinions. One prefers the tort and the other the black. I currently have the tort on it, but I think I'm gonna' go back to the black. (I've never asked the guys in the other trio, but one of these days I will.)

This arrived today. Took it straight to band practice without even opening the bag, I was in such a rush…What better way to test it though!
I really like it, more than my Aqua Sparkle 4H. As many have mentioned, the G string is a little close to the edge of the fretboard, but if I watch my technique, it’s not an issue.
I will test it some more, but I think it’s a keeper. The kiwi finish looks even better in person, has a slight sparkle.
If anyone in Europe wants an Aqua Sparkle 4H in great condition, mine is very likely going up for sale soon!

. That 4H will make a great backup & get the job done when you just need a good solid 4 string.GOLDEN SPARKLES GALORE!!!Today’s arrival…Yes it’s a DarkRay and it’s “special” to me anyway![]()

I'm leaning toward black on both. Black was standard on the Raspberry Burst. The Burnt Ends came with tort, but I bought a black one for it from Ernie Ball. And that's a four string, so changing puckguards is trivial. Thank you! It's getting it's first run through a set this weekend, but in practice it sounded great. Did you make any progress on deciding a color?Beautiful bass, congratulations @FenrirofOld!
I almost pulled the trigger on a new Stingray Special today but I couldn’t make up my mind on a color!
Enjoy it!
