EBMM StingRay Special Club

@BryanB Yeah we will offer it, I just don't know when. I would guess 2020ish. Maybe earlier if we make one for an artist.
As much as I love Ken Smith Slick Rounds, I feel like I’m chopping off too much of what this bass does well. Anybody try coated strings with these? Like DR Black Beauties?
That was the final straw for me; placed my order yesterday after finding one in the sweetest finishes I've ever seen...
Still need to make a followup phone call, but I expect it to be delivered early next week
Placed an order here in Canada for a 4HH in Cruz Teal about a month ago - I thought my dream was a surf green stingray until I saw the special Teal. It'll be the first new instrument I've ever bought (I've been buying used for 10 years!) and I keep coming back to this thread to remind me what I'm in store for. It's gonna be quite awhile until mine is built, but it'll be worth it!
Just came back from a place that had a SR5 30th, SR5 Special, and a SR5 Classic. The Classic had a certain clarity of tone, higher highs and lower lows, and a sensitive EQ system, with the only thing I didn't like was treble fully boosted, but that may have just been the amp or me not wanting to blast it in front of other people. The 30th was pretty "warm" but also felt smoothed over, like a blanket, and slightly had the old "clacky" tone the old preamps had. The Special was very close to the classic, almost there, but the Classic has that certain tone while the Special has control over useful mids, plus the switchblade settings.
It's a hard choice between Special or Classic, and I'm leaning towards one or the other or a SRS5 and a Classic 4. I will say though, I was very impressed by the Special, well done EBMM! Certainly had the most comfortable neck out of the lot.

Has anyone found a good video that has all pickup selector positions of both the single pickup and dual pickup Stingray Special 5 strings???
If you're in Reno, it looks like there's one at the Guitar Center in Sacramento. Might be worth a road trip. You'll get a much better idea in person. Good Luck!

I found one for the two pickup model, but have not found one that has the one pickup 5 string.

I wonder why the 5H has a switch and the 4H doesn't have a switch. If it did, I might have gotten the 4H. I love the switching on my 4HH.
Did a rehearsal with the special 4 where I’d normally play a J bass and it sounded great. Still MMish but natural, punchy, full, with just the right amount of snap. I ended up leaving the EQ pretty flat, just a little bass boost. I tried the 30th 5 for a few songs last week and it sounded polite and electronic. The 30th isn’t bad but I’d never chose to play it on this gig.
