Mmmmm....sounds like the start of a Hollywood disaster movie were everything is ok and then something goes wrong.
Let's face it, the risk of something going wrong is very low but the stakes are extremely high.
This is a case of "trust the doctors and public officials" in it's highest form.

Actually, my concern with an outbreak from the few cases being treated in US facilities is quite low. The chance of this spreading by infected patients traveling by air is another matter.

Only if some crazy nut ball decides to sabotage the system. You would think that the officials have thought of this and would have heightened security at the facility where the patients are being treated.

I think they must have slipped up to get infected. The alternative is that ebola has mutated into an airborne virus, which seems unlikely or it would be a pandemic already.

It's not the ones you know about that are the problem, it's the undiagnosed carriers who are the concern.

Basic risk analysis looks at two principle factors: Impact of it going wrong - in this case catastrophic and Likelihood, which in this case should be minimal as every possible mitigation factor and technique will be in place.

I worked in hospital pathology labs for years - a disease like this is not a subject to make light if or to make smart comments about - it kills indiscriminately in a horrible manner.
