That would make them even more useful, I agree.
At least one can insert separate LPF pedal in the clean FX loop of the Sheehan pedal... This option is not available with the Genzler pedals, unfortunatelly...

EBS Billy Sheehan Ultimate Signature Drive

At least one can insert separate LPF pedal in the clean FX loop of the Sheehan pedal... This option is not available with the Genzler pedals, unfortunatelly...
Latest iteration of my small pedalboard. The Broughton RFE (still) sits in the clean loop of the EBS pedal...
My Sheehan Deluxe that I've had as a core element of my pedalboard for over 8 years has died :-(.
I've had constant problems with mine for a few years. I have had a few pedal repairers have a go at fixing the issue with the EBS schematic in hand. Initially the problem goes away but always seems to come back.
When engaging the pedal it will power on fine, it will pass clean signal fine but the drive channel would produce no sound. Even the compressor would engage and work.
A fix I stumbled on for a long time once this issue started to appear is adding a pedal to the drive loop via insert cable. This seemed to bypass what was causing the issue.
But lately now - if the pedal has been turned off, once you turn it on it seems to work initially, but over the course of 5 minutes the tone degrades and becomes low output and fuzzy. It does this now 100% of the time, even with a pedal in the drive loop. I dont think I want to spend more on this one. I may look for a 2nd hand Ultimate. I had an Ultimate in the past but sold it as I had the Deluxe as well and the Deluxe got me a better return

Finally bit the bullet and bought a new Ultimate after my Deluxe died.
Tried some different standalone drives and compressors together and nothing gives me the overall effect of the Billy Sheehan pedal. I like the drive, I like how the compressor works, I like how the boost adds saturation but not volume and I like the fact effects can be inserted in each channel.
Got a great deal in a boxing day special so it's on the way.

I've had the Ultimate before. Do you know what, I actually prefer the Deluxe....I know that they should be identical circuits but there's something about the breakup and distortion character I like about the Deluxe a bit more, it's slightly more raw and breaks up earlier.
But having said that, in a live band mix the difference can't be heard abd my Deluxe is definitely dead!

I hear you. I can think of better sounding distortions (to my ears)...but the EBS pedal is great for its overall utility (FX loops, compressor, tone control, boost).
I am considering doing that...and would appreciate to hear/read about your experience...
I love how MBD 3 and EBS Sheehan signature drive complement each other. MBD is placed in the clean FX loop of the EBS pedal. To my ears, MBD is on the darker side. With Tone control on the EBS pedal set above noon, the EBS supplements the high end sizzle which MBD is not capable of. The best things is that one can send the sizzle to FOH separately via a DI box placed in the drive FX loop...so that the sound tech can adjust the amount of sizzle by using a fader without changing EQ settings...
