I just got this ebs tube head 3 weeks ago and i wanted to run it a little to get a good feel for it before giving it a review. I have owned a couple amps through the years, tube and SS. I still have an svt- vr. While i have been told for years that a bassplayer "needs" a ton of power, this is not my experience. I play alot of club and bar gigs and i do record at home. The svt is absolute overkill for me, and its a pain to lug around. But it does sound good so i will probably keep it. The ebs is 90 watts, but that is still pretty loud. It has a really good vintage sound, it has simple controls, and it records very well either di or miked cab. At home i use an ampeg pf115 and at practice and the couple gigs i added an ampeg pf 210. It is plenty loud and cuts at practice, and it was mic'd at the gigs i played. I love the tone, and i love that the rig is half the weight of the svt and 6x10 that i have. I was looking for a lower watt tube amp for a while, i liked this better than the v4 and bassmans i tried, great amps, but overall liked the tone of the ebs more. I will probably never play a stadium without PA support, so i think i found a better alternative for myself.

I`ve used the T-90 for a number of gigs now, matched with the 810 or two 112 classic cabs. It really does sound killer, at least to my ears. The matching cab line and this amp gives a great vintage tone, but the two tone controls and the presence can do a lot. I`ve mostly used the T-90 and the 810 for medium/large clubs without PA-support, just tapping the DI for monitor use for the drummer, and it holds up supprisingly well! When cranked to the sweet-spot you can control it with your fingers, clean or slightly OD. 90w is enough for me, I have yet to run out of volume or headroom, and I`m competing with 100w tube gitar, organ and a really hard hitting drummer

I really love this amp as well. Pretty loud especially with an efficient multi-driver cabinet. Just a nice warm natural tube tone. Has good mids and bass and a nice not too harsh top end. Sounds really good with all my basses and cabs. Especially likes my Fender Bassman NEO 4-10 and L-2000 for some reason.

with the di, can you run the amp muted for recording? is there a distinct di level control?

I tried this amp last summer and was very impressed with it running through a Berg CN212.
