what is this signature sound everyone seems to be upset about? describe, post the settings...
btw, as a long time EBS user, I feel confident about certain aspects of their equipment. when the controls are zeroed, the preamp is flat - regardless of combo, head or pedal. zeroed for EBS can be achieved by depressing EQ and CHARACTER knobs (if available), or setting the following pots like so: BASS has zero detent at 12 o'clock, use it. MID is semi-parametric with zero detent. TREBLE has zero detent. COMPRESSOR, BRIGHT, DRIVE and HPF/NOTCH are zeroed when turned all the way CCW.
these settings were compared and verified multiple times by recording tracks of preamp out, DI out and instrument direct, with preamp en-/disengaged, with several EBS heads and preamp pedals.
if you don't like flat, that's fine. but don't call it "signature".
