I bought a TD650 amp an estate sale. I have hooked it up to Aguilar cabs and Eden cabs but the same thing happens. The amp will cut in and out for just a short period and it seems to be random as I can't recreate the issue using a standard set of conditions. I have combed the internet (and these forums) and can't find anyone else having the same issue. I have also tried to contact EBS to find where I can get the amp repaired with no success. Right now I am using it as a practice amp because I can't depend on it for actual performances. I have used it with and without effects pedals, different basses, and the issue doesn't seem to discriminate with alternate setups. It seems that it is internal to the amp. It almost sounds like it's a tube going or a loose connection, abd wire, or maybe a bad capacitor? Any insight on fixing the problem or a connection to a reputable repair shop would be very much appreciated.

EBS TD650 problem

I had this happen with my EBS HD350 for two different reasons both of which have been fixed:
1) One of the jacks in the effects loop was opening and closing when no cable was connected to it. Three ways to fix it, a) find the jack that's bad and replace it b) put a short instrument cable between the send and return so the jack is held in place c) Put the effects loop setting in the parallel mode assuming it is in the series mode now. If the effects loop is in series mode and the jack is itermittently opening it will drop your signal. You should be able to change from series to parallel mode using the little dip switches on the back. Consult the manual for the proper switch setting.
2) Preamp transistor was tweeked. This was a high frequency nosie that intermittently came in and out almost like a blown speaker. The volume would drop some. I trouble shot this with EBS over email and they sent me the needed transistor for replacement.

That is exactly when it did happen (no instrument cable plugged into the effects loop). With nothing in the jack it was changing state. That is why putting a patch cable between the send and return was one of the fixes.
