EBS ValveDrive Discontinued?

It's very logical. You think they aren't charging me more for a feature I don't want? If they aren't then they've likely cut corners somewhere to maintain the price.

I'm a proponent of using high quality "one trick ponies" to do very specific things over the swiss army knife approach. In my experience this whole "versatility" thing we've been sold in recent years is in many cases of a lot less real world value than than it would seem at first glance.

Word. Sounded like your beef was that you would have to put the Valve Drive in a different place in your chain just because it had a DI.

I think a lot of people use it as a tone-shaping preamp, too, and from the snippet I read it seems like the XLR addition is in large part to facilitate easier connection to a power amp, which I would assume is in response to customer feedback.

I kinda was saying that but only insofar as that where you put one in the the chain the other goes along for the ride even if you'd prefer to hear it somewhere else. For most folks the DI probably wants to go last but then if you wanted to put something after the pre-amp stage (like a compressor or tube reverb or something you wanted to hit with a hotter signal from the preamp) you're kinda screwed for it going to FOH.
