I have a warwick thumb bolt on. So I dont have a clue what this piece is called...but its right under the truss rod nut and the above the neck. where the strings lay. It broke trying to **** with it. Is there anyway to replace that? I woud upload a picture but its not working of course :crying:

I got the bass used and Im pretty sure it was on the verge of breaking and my adjustment was the straw that broke the camels back. I really dont want to send it back or something because they dont have another warwick for the price I got it. :help:

Sounds like you are talking about the nut. Not sure why you were trying to **** with it, but yes you can replace it. I wouldn't advise you do it however, based on you have to know a bit about your bass to do it properly and you are more likely to damage the instrument more if you don't know what you are doing. A pro can replace it for a price you can likely live with. But if you really want to mess with your bass, Google "bass nut replacement" or even search on it in these forums and you should find some helpful info.

Actually, since it's a Warwick, google "Just-A-Nut III" that's the current version of Warwick's nut.

They are pretty neat. BTW, If you aren't sure about how to proceed, you might want to find a luthier in your area to do the replacement.

I was ****ing with it because the action was way too low the strings rattled on the first fret so I was trying to raise it and the hole was stripped. Thanks for the help guys!

Also you know the two litpe plastic pieces on each side that hold the nut in place? well one of them is snapped off. (I didnt do it I bought it like that!) is there a way to fix that. it seems like its atrtached to the neck so I dont think its replaceable

Sounds like the piece that snapped off is one of the locater tangs that help you hold the nut in place. Once strings are brought to tension it isn't really needed. On two of my Warwicks one of them is broken off on each - so don't worry - not an issue. If all that is wrong is that the set screw is stripped you can build up the height with wood or metal shims under the nut. If you busted the nut where one of the strings lay across it you'll need to get another from Warwick. Their NYC store has them in stock or you can get them on the web. They are available in plastic or brass. Good Luck!

Sounds like it's a Just-A-Nut II... those are notorious for breakage. Snag a JAN-III and take it to your local luthier for a swap - no worries.

ummm warwicks use just-a-nut which comes on and off, anyone can replace or adjust them

it's a common problem with the old model, get a new one from warwick and it wont happen again
