Indeed a giant. Well, his brother Charlie was actually the giant ("El Gigante de las blancas y las negras"), but still....
In Latin music, Eddie Palmieri is a bandleader at the upper echelons, the same way Ellington or Basie are at that level of big band jazz.
I performed a show with Palmieri in 2009. It really changed my life.
