Hey guys, I was fortunate enough to get an endorsement deal with Eden and Warwick last week so I'm looking to switch over my rig.

I've used the WT800 through one of their 4x10xlt cabs but that's the only combination I've ever tried. I'm thinking about getting the 6x10xst and maybe one of the Blackout heads.

Does anybody have any experience with the different Eden stuff?

To give you an idea of my current sound I'm running a Mesa M6 through an Ampeg 8x10.

Not too familiar with the Blackout heads, but the WT800 is kind of a benchmark. Super-flexible EQ and, at least IMO, really usable tones - great tones - with most cabs. Every cab I've used, at least. The EQ is also very touchy, so a little goes a long way. I have never been a big fan of the "Enhance" knob and like to run it full off all the time, but your ears may differ from mine.

As far as the 6x10 goes, the XST series of cabs were put out in an answer to those who were looking for extended bass - something the original David series cabinets were not known for. Personally, I think the David series cabs are famous for a reason and I like the way they're voiced. If you're used to an Ampeg fridge, then you'd probably like the more traditional Eden voicing over the XSTs as well. I'm just guessing here. You may find that a pair of 410XLTs is going to suit you better than a single 610XST. The drawback, of course is that you're schlepping two cabs instead of one. The advantage is that each weighs a little over 30# less. Only you can make the call, but you should definitely give a listen to one of those 610s if you can. They sound very good, but they don't sound like Ampegs at all.

Thanks E, that was really helpful.

The cab is really my main concern just because I've never tested one of them out. I don't want to be a nuisance but can you go into the tone of the 6x10 a little more so I can get a better idea comparison wise? I was going to try their eight but the rep strongly suggested the 610xst.

I just don't to have to reship a cab $$$:rolleyes:

Sadly, I've only heard the 6x10 briefly (it was backline at a local show that I stopped in and didn't stay through) so I don't really have enough experience with it to give you a full run-down. My impression was a more contemporary sound than the older Eden stuff with less mid-range push and a lot more low lows. To me, it wasn't what I think of when I think of an 'Eden sound' - if there is such a thing. I'm sorry, but that's the best I can offer up.

I'd like to hear if others here with experience gigging the 610 would concur with me.

New member here, had to butt in! Congrats on your endorsement! I've been playing Eden stuff for a while. I have an old 210 metro from the 90's thats been all over the world with me. If you're not getting enough low end with a 410, add another. It's all about how the cabs are ported anyway. The 410 XLT is vented at the top and bottom. I believe the XST is vented at the bottom only. More lows from the speaker, less from the cab. A couple of either would provide a more versatile rig. Keeps you from luggin' around a fridge all the time!

Also, sadly, I've been a little disappointed with my new Wt800. I play 260 or so gigs a year, and it's not holding up. Something about the way a few amp components are mounted to the box. Our road manager handles our gear with kid gloves but It just keeps going in the shop. I'm afraid they are stuffing too much stuff into that little box. They just don't make em' like they used too!

I've used the WT800 & D410XLT as a backline several times and was nothing but pleased with that combo. I recently sold a WT-550B & miss it greatly.

I'd go with what the standard is as thousands have stuck with the WT800 & 410 combo. You could venture into the 410XLT & 410XST together if that much cone area is needed.

As for the Eden 610 I don't hear much about them so my guess it's just not the first choice with Eden users.

XST - Clear lows, clear highs, almost a transparent midrange tone. Everything is there, but to darn polite sounding. It's good for the studio, and good for certain projects live.

XLT - Midrange galore, solid low end, upper mid growl, and decent high end. It sounds great in a loud band situation. Rock, metal and so on. More character to this series for sure.

Definitely try the XST out though with an Eden head. See what you think....

If you already have a 410XLT and like it, get another.

got a wtb400 in june. really dug the sound. crapped out about 3 weeks ago, 3 song of the night. tried it 2 other times. same result 10-12 minutes in - nothing. in for repair. china syndrome..... also recently got a wtx 264. nice little amp - big sound for its size. eden thump.. but only 260 watts. Cab wise imho nothing sounds and feels like an amopeg 8-10 cab. Congrats on the endorsements.

I've played everything eden (cabs) and I can tell you that that the 2x10's and 4x10's are all great and two 4x10XLT's sound almost twice as loud any 8x10 plus you have the advantage of scaling down to just a 4x10 if you want. I have been a little less satisfied with thier 6x10 in live performance. I'd take an eden 2x10 + 4x10 anyday over just about any 6x10 on the market. as mentioned above XST is more modern hi-fi sound - XLT series will sound closer to your ampeg cab -(depending on your model )

- FYI - I also play Warwick and love the Warwick+Eden marriage - Oy yeah a little secret about a new eden amp 800 or 1200 - dont put it on top of your cabs - they dont like to be rattled by all the bass - get a separate case and set it a few inches away from your cab.

Thanks for all the info guys, it's really appreciated. As I sit in a smaller venue today I'm cursing myself that I don't have the option of a smaller rig and the general response is get two 4x10's so I think that's what I'll do.

As for the head rattle I shockmount my gear anyways so I hope that will solve the issue.

Does anybody know what the deal is with the new Blackout series?

Hi. I have been using my new Mesaboogie M6 because my Eden Navigator was in the shop. I am running the m6 through a Epiphany 4-10 cab.

The M6 has been nice because it is convenient. The other end of the strategy world is my Traveler. The M6 is warm, but, the Navigator is tight. Whild using the M6, I missed the compressor on my Navigator.

Since you are using 10s, I might guess you like a punchier cleaner sound. I when with the Navigator because it is a preamp. I gave me the option of running an power amp of my choice. I used a Crown. It was nice using the electronic crossover in it to run seperate dedicated two way speakers.

The crown is super clean, so, if you are sloppy it is a little daunting when everyone hears exactly what your fretboard is seeing.

The WT550 is a great amp if you don't want a preamp type.

BTW, I forgot to mention I sometimes use my Warwick Thumb. A little hard on the neck muscles since it is heavy, but, it is one of the top growlers out there. Sounds great with Eden stuff. jp

The thumb is a great ergonomic bass. Play it to your body and you'll last for hours.

I would hit up a 610 or a 412 over an 810 but that's just my taste.

My only eden product is the WTDI, which you may like as an extra EQ/enhance/compressor feature for your rig. Great little box.

Also, if you've ever thought about bi/amping and crossing over, Eden would be a great fit for that with their great approach to hi-fi gear.

Thanks Jon, my preamp section died on my M6 but I run an Avalon 737 merc edition for compression anyways so I just use that preamp now until I replace the head.

For such a big company Mesa has the worst customer service ever.

By the way, Thumbs are the only way to go in my book!

I have had a few Eden Cab combos. 2 x 410xlt, 212xlt/210xst, 410xlt/210xst, 610xlt, 2 x 210xst.

2 x 410xlts is a monster set up but just too big for alot of gigs i do - and it is a serious load in/out.

Of all the combinations I have had I settled on the 610xlt and 2 x 210xst. I love both.

A 610xst would be awesome I think. The 610 cabs are such an easy lug with the tilt and roll style cab. MY 2 x 210xst set up has more bottom end than the 610xlt.

I would go the 610xst. Go on the Eden forum and ask for some users over there.

I've been playing through a WT-800 thru (2) XLT4x10 cabs for years. My head and cabs are from the first run of production Eden did with these jewels. Not one hiccup from this rig,EVER!! I've read/heard Eden has struggled with quality issues over the past few years. Have they worked those bugs out?
I just can't bring myself to even try anything else. That rig has just became such an integral part of my sound. Let's put it this way. I value my rig,just as much as I value my instrument. That's a pretty damn bold statement there. Not a lot of people can say that.
