Eden and Curiosity

I've been playing my Ampeg BA-115 for a few years and it serves nicely for sculpting many tones under the Sun-which pleases me still. However paired with my Warwick Corvette it definitely has an emphasis with the mids.

We recently started playing Reggae and mellower Jazz stuff. I feel it's time to look for something a little less rock oriented. A friend of mine recommended Edens. I have no way of going to the store and trying them out and the searches on TB haven't given me much direct reviews.

I hear they are quite good at finding tones and such. I am probably interested in a 4x10 with a head that's 300-400w? Or perhaps you can recommend a more appropriate sized rig. What can you guys say about their quality overall? I'm really starting from the ground up with amps seeing as the BA-115 is all I ever owned.

All my Eden gear is great stuff. Many these days think the older (pre-buyout) production is better. If you can find a WT-300 or 400 or the more recent Time Traveler head it will give you lots of tonal versatility at the power level you seek. Their 4X10's (the David series) are pro standards; heavy, but as rugged as they come. I'm not very familiar with their current line, but I expect others will chime in pro & con, cause that's how it is with Eden these days.

I used to own an Eden WT400(400wtt)head into an Eden 410XLT(700wtts@4ohms)cabinet. I loved the tones coming out of that rig, and wish I still owned it. I only sold it thinking I wasn't gonna play ever again. Too bad for 2 weeks after that. DAMMIT!!! Eden kicks, but don't know about their QC since Dave Nordschow left. But, again, in all, Eden is great stuff!

i feel like the only person on here who hates eden. i'd recommend a lot of other stuff before eden. but the only real advice i have is go try some stuff out and buy what appeals to you.

I'm an endorser, but happily so since 1996. I migrated over from SWR and really enjoy how smooth they sound as opposed to SWR which can get really radical really fast in the tone department.
Dave Nordschow's DNA speaker prototypes are amazing, particularly this 1-12" Neo cab he's got. Can't wait to hear the amps....

Happy WT-800 user here. Mine is an A model from the way back machine and I can get most of what I want out of it. It shares the duty with a Gk MB2-500 and formerly with a GK 1001 RBII. for me the GK sound is somehting I want in the stable and the Eden is as well. A WT-400 was the one that got me hooked. The 800 is just fabulous ...

I thoroughly enjoyed my WT400 years ago, but needed to power a 2ohm load, so traded for the WT550. Also a very nice amp. Never had troubles until I played this one club with poor house electricity service... Whenever the two main fridges would kick-in, the power dropped to the point where the Eden sounded completely distorted, and weak... I supposed that's to be expected with SS amps though... Since I played at that club regularly for several years, I switched back to tube amps...

The WT amps are great for quickly "tuning the room." Great EQ, and frankly, plenty of power for all but the biggest venues (which would also have PA support).

But these days, I'm with JimmyM - I'd recommend playing as many as you can and picking te one that suits your needs and ears. If that's not possible, I'd start with the TC Electronic RH450. Amazing amp!
