P.S. For those of you who are skeptical of my Sam Ash Claim:

As per your reciept pic it says DEMO, so cab should be discounted. I bought a used 410XLT a couple years ago and I really like that cab's tone. I paid less for it than you did for your 210 but it was local, still in very good condition. But man, it weighs a ton for me to schlep alone. I bought a used, UL410-II ( two actually) and even as the heavier II series, it feels much, much lighter than my 410XLT. I move it alone to my gigs easily now. Different tone for sure but works fine for my band(s) needs.

As much as I hated to, I sold the Eden cab since I own 6 other cabs, 112, 210, 212x2, 410x2. I just don't think I'd ever use the Eden again and it was just taking up room in my spare room where I keep my gear. And I only lost $25 to resell it recently. But I kept the LeCover that came with it when I bought it....was that wrong?

I also owned a WT550B, sold it here, no $$ loss there either. I still own a older D210T modded w/Em Deltalight drivers. I posted it for sale on local CL, no bites yet, so its gonna go to the practice space and stay there now.

Finally, for used-like-new gear, TB is the place I prefer to shop. I think there is a 210XLT for like $400-$450 here now, that's a great deal if you're looking for that kinda thing. Otherwise, enjoy your Eden gear, I did.

yeah, it was the one they have out there on the floor, sam ash doesn't carry back stock or items still in the box, everything they stock, they put on display (which is why there's duplicates out on the shelves and displays) they had 2 of these cabs I got, also it says demo because it's a close out.. I got the one in the best looking condition of the two of course (also less dusty which means to me, hasn't been out on display as long as the other).

Yeah the xlt are weighty.. they use solid plywood and not the lighter shreaded layered type of wood.. so it makes a major difference in weight.. however i can report that the xst that I got is very light.. it's about 60lbs while the lower xlt i think is about 70 lbs.. same wood, but just slimmer and different speaker.

And yes I agree with you on that slight loss or no loss in price upon resale.. I don't understand the few previous replies.. I guess they scored gear in poor condition or just got lucky... because, you can check ebay's completed listings right now and see used Eden that sold for retail price or just 50-100 less.. which isn't as big of a hit as you see with other brands like Ampeg which take massive 300-500 dollar price cuts on ebay (even listed as New).. I think this is due to the sheer number of competitive auctions and buy it now and store listings.. While on the other hand with Eden, only a handful (if any at all) are listed at any given time and when they are listed, they are listed for retail or higher than retail price... So you don't have to be competitive with the price.. Actually those listings that are $30-50 cheaper are fast movers because those are probably considered a sale price in the world of the Eden shopper.

Not everything Sam Ash sells is a demo. What you paid was a regular discount for a floor model, not what I'd call a closeout price. I hate to point that out, but your boldface hype makes me feel obliated to.

Those in this thread who scored cheap cabs did so by looking in the TB classifieds, or patiently following CL, ebay, etc. Some might have been lucky deals, but it's a buyer's market when it comes to second-hand bass cabs of ANY brand.

I haven't tried any of those "Chinese" made Edens.. yeah, i guess those could be bad, but at least they sell them for what they are (Lower End and Cheaper Priced).. but as for the core products like the World Tour Amps and The E Series Cabinets, those are still hand built here in the USA from Grade A Products and even the cabs use Solid Pieces of Plywood and not that shredded stuff which I know my Ampeg uses even they make their own speakers.

However it is great to say, even though Eden is owned by US Music Corp, they have actually ended up improving these core products, mainly the cabinets.. with the introduction on speakers that can handle greater frequency range, available in 4 or 8 ohm, and higher wattage. in addition the WT1205 which basically takes the WT800 and turns it into a 2 channel power machine (which can be bridged of course)..

Also the new XST series of Eden speakers introduced greater portability.. they gotten lighter and slightly slimmer.

Regardless of this, i am sure if this side project ever goes on stage at the larger venues here in Hollywood and Los Angeles that I will no doubt end up using my Ampeg rig instead as I know this tiny Eden rig won't be able to cut it to my standards, even with PA/Engineering assist.

Also the main reason for my Eden Cab Purchase and soon to be Eden Amp Purchase of mine will just be my portable instrumental rig and something that can fit in the car along with a bass in it's hardcase..

Amp what whatever else goes on the floor, the speaker goes on the seat, and the bass guitar stands up in-between the two...

and I was serious when I said I have virtually no trunk space in one of my earlier post (the car's rear differential takes up most of the space).

All the Eden amps are now made in China. The cabinets are still made here (I think in Eminence Kentucky) and they no longer make their own speakers either.

Also, I bet your 1x15 (unless it's a massive sub with serious biamping) will add *anything* appreciable to an 8x10. Hell, your average 4x10 will drown out a 1x15.

I can appreciate you like having something that sounds good and fits in a convertible, but there are plenty of lighter, smaller, and louder cabs that do the same. Hell, my Audiokinesis Thunderchild THRASHES my 210XLT at half the weight. Only reason I haven't gotten rid of the 210 yet is because I'm not sure I'll get enough for it to justify shipping the damn thing.

yes biamp.. i run a complete stereo rig and the 1x15 has it's own individual eq, tone, and sound controls throughout the entire rack.

And it's an ampeg so of course it's massive sounding.. definately not as powerful as the 8x10 but brings a whole different sounding tone and rumble than what the 8x10 can do...
It's a significant difference between when i turn it's channel off on my rack or don't bring it along.

As I said above, the 8x10 is very punchy while the 15 is just low and deep.

Thanks to everyone for your replies. Just a few minutes ago I ended up completing my order with Online Music Retailer zZounds.com.

I'll soon be the owner of a new David Eden WT550!

I had a return to process with them for an Ampeg Micro VR head and 2x10 cab, so originally I was going to do an exchange with them for this Amp but I couldn't wait for my return to ship and them process the exchange and ship it to me (they are located in NJ and I am here in CA), so I opted to buy it now and just make my returns for refund. On top of this zZsounds.com actually priced matched an eBay listing of a WT550 for me (and gave me a $5 discount on top of that), so instead of paying the retail price of 899.99 for this amp, they charged me $735.00!

That's $165.00 off a brand new in the box David Eden Amp Made in The USA from a Large/Major Online Music Store! Then the fact that zZsounds doesn't ever charge Tax and always has free Shipping is awesome too. that's even cheaper than Sam Ash's closeout price on the WT550.

Sometimes some uppity kid comes along on here ranting and raving about gear we've all "been there and done that"-ed and so we collectively feel the need to quash his enthusiasm by raining on his parade. Sorry.

i never utilize customer service if i have problems.. i usually deal with problems through warranty claims. Also I've owned various equipment over the years and know how to handle and do minor fixes on the fly for problems... i even owned the always faulty early SWR chromed out bass amps which had always 100% chance of blowing a fuse at least once every 2 weeks to a month, and frying a transformer at least once every 6 months and/or other major problems that required surgery by a repair shop..


With this Eden, I'll be purchasing a 3 year parts & labor warranty including replacement coverage for Drops, Spills(water) and other Accidental Damage through squaretrade. it will cost about $55.

So I don't have to worry about US Music customer service..

I have a WT550 head(made in 2005) it's in mint condition. I got it off Craigslist for $400. IMHO if you want to go Eden go used. I would not have this head if not for the nice price, new it is just a little too much. Oh and I love the sound, i use it with a Epifani PS410 cabinet

yeah i have quirks with used gear.. I've always had used and vintage gear in the past, but I grew to not care for them anymore. I guess it's like a used car.. nice that it's broken in, but more likely to have problems and more likely to not have any warranty... plus I don't like anyone touching my gear.. so i don't want to touch gear someone had their grubby hands all over..

now a days I go NEW all the way, no matter what it is.. Instruments, cars, etc.. However I can get away with getting a used or display model of a Speaker Cabinet as those are rugged and no fragile parts. The Eden 2x10 I got was the one out on the floor at Sam Ash when I score it for Close Out price. It's technically new gear (and probably not used even once) as I found out the next day on a revisit to Sam Ash that they had just brought out all the Eden stock they had in the back in boxes and put it on display which is why there were duplicates of the speaker cab I got on display. dunno.

Actually, Eden and US Music are now owned by Jam Industries, who bought the whole thing late in 2009. So it's been a continuous series of management and strategy changes not just at Eden, but at Randall, Washburn, Parker and others for some time. Eden CS was improving recently, until (apparently) USM CS was organized into a single unit where all CS reps handle all supported product lines (possibly split up between amps and instruments), and quality of support started to go downhill again - simply because the CS reps were spread too thinly. I presume this is a problem across USM brands, not just with Eden. Someone with better info might correct me if I got any of this wrong. I've pieced together a number of clues and indications.
