Eden Highwayman=embrace or run?

ok i'm looking for a club giggable rig now,i've hit the search function and found a few threads concerning this head, and of course there are those haters and lovers(no surprise there:D)

couple great revues online(but they are old revues)

and there is also a used one 2 hours down the interstate is it worth the drive to check it out(it's at a music store),any definate issues with these i should ask/check for?(yeah i read about humming etc.but those threads are old man!),or forget it and keep saving up:rolleyes:

hate to post a price because this isn't `what's it worth' it's only worth what they can get;) and any price is an `asking' price when talking used, hold up a fist full of dollars and see what happens:D,but if it's a grenade i don't want it if it's a keeper then i'll go check it out(4 bills) anybody?>

ok,all i've ever owned is solid state ,well, maybe my first amp back in the 60's had a tube but i doubt it,probably a Silvertone from Sears(a kid in grade school/practise amp)

i don't really care who or what brand if i can find a sweet tone and fit in the mix that's all i'm after, but(sigh) one must look the part:rolleyes:,,i only have a grand to invest at this point for a head/cab(and these clubs around here don't pay very much),this isn't a pro deal, just something to get me thru the winter with a smile:D

i'll keep looking;)

The Highwayman is basically a WT-800 without the crossover and with less power. It is a model which has been discontinued for several years now and is best suited for driving two 4 ohm cabinets or one 8 ohm cabinet in bridge mode. I've had mine since 1994 and it has been fairly problem-free, except for some issues with the solder joints on the power resistors on the preamp board. Older models can also be a noisy at idle. It sounds like an Eden... which could be good or bad, depending on personal preferences.

+1 I would 'run' on this one. Many other heads that are much louder, smaller, lighter, and don't have that unusual 'dual mono' thing which requires either a large 8ohm cab or two small 4ohm cabs to reach full power and full volume... pretty much the opposite of what most players own.

$400 could be a good price, especially if they'll dicker. Clean and warm is the sound. I use both a WT405 and an old WT800A.

Which model is it? There are a number of them.

Edit: It's interesting people are advising you to run w/o knowing which of 6-8 different models it is.
