Eden, really?

That answer seems rather evasive to me....

According to Lane Baldwin, the E300T is David Nordschow's design.

So I guess appearances may be deceiving in this instance based on Lane Baldwin's response from the Eden forum.

Cheers,

I think the main point people are complaining about, is the price.
Why pay xxx$ more for the same amp just because there's an Eden sticker on it?

I play a Weber Mywatt 200, a Hiwatt clone. The builder is cleary saying that IT IS IN FACT a Hiwatt clone. And the price is better than a Vintage Hiwatt DR200.

+1
I merely posted to front and rear of the amps to show they are essentially identical.

I am inclined to give Lane the benefit of the doubt.
to me, and what I gather from other posts and other threads, there is simply no doubt. With all respect to Lane, he has a track record of a most loyal Edenite but not as the most accurate purveyor of fact.

Just for the record, I like EDEN products, I have no problem with rebranding a generic product made in Indonesia for use as "budet range" product.
By all accounts the Fame (and therefore the Eden) are pretty decent all tube amps.
IMHO the Eden looks a lot classier than the Fame. That and the Eden badge would even make me spend a bit more on the Eden.
But not that much more. However what does rile me is the fact that it is explicitly stated that this is their own design, with Lane's personal input....

Well, they are clearly built on the same chassis, and may well have many of the same components, but Eden has claimed that it was part of the design (and one feature it worked on in particular was the mid-shift). I don't know what Eden did--it could have told the manufacturer to use the mid-shift circuitry from the WT405, picked from a half-dozen suggestions by the manufacturer, or done a fair amount of r&d themselves.

A potential parallel is GMC's Typhoon. Anyone remember it? From all outward appearances, it looked like a lowered GMC Jimmy with nice wheels and performance tires (and you would wonder what they were thinking putting such wheels and tires on a cheap, weak suv). Under the hood, however, was a turbocharged, intercooled beast of an engine tied to an all wheel drive tranny. It was, essentially, a stealth sports car.

I don't know one way or the other whether Eden's 300T is a Typhoon, or a Jimmy with nice wheels. Could be either.

LOL, that's a good one :ninja:

just look at the pictures and tell me you personally and sincerely believe that statement :rollno:

Lol, wow. Two amps with all of the most common, basic features of alltime. Must be identical. Must be conspiracy.

+!
I would take whatever Lane says with a grain of salt. He has proven over and over again to be a Devote Edenite but may be a bit squirrely on the facts...

Come on now, I think I'm a pretty neutral observer, and two amps with every single switch, adjustment, and knob in the exact same place. (with the addition of a speakon)

If it was just the same features, I could think that it was just coincidence, but this goes beyond coincidence. The ONLY reason two manufacturers would have the exact same control placement would be if they were using the same pre-made PC boards and components.

There may be other internal specs that may be specific to the EDEN, but it's pretty clear at this point that these are the same the same amp, made by the same company with minor alterations.

...

Wouldn’t it be cool if you could replace a single tube if it failed or broke, instead of the entire set? And wouldn’t it be even cooler if you could fine-tune your bias setting for each tube quickly and easily every time you played? So you could have your perfect bias setting every time you turned the amp on? With the E300T, you can do both without the huge service bill.

Whoever designed it, this is a good idea. Markbass uses a micro processor to automatically do it, but having testpoints and a procedure that anybody can run is good. Meters today are cheap and accurate and have a digital readout so there's no confusion over the reading. More power to the consumer.
