Eden - why so expensive?

a wt550 and a 210xst would be $2000 on musicians friend...
the metro actually has two channels
my 550 and two bergantino 112s cost about $2200...
if you like the sound of the metro's 210's then $1600 doesn't look so bad to me...

The amp will go down to 2ohms (extra cabs added
) and it has an amazing sounding hybrid head. It has solid state on one side and tube on the other.You put the D210xst on it and you shake a 300-400 person room. I know...I did it. (no pa support)...
You can get one for under a grand and should be able to have everything that you need for a good long time.

My ten year old WT400 took a three foot dive face down onto a marble floor, and after I finished the gig with it I took it in to be checked. No problem found. (It's in a rack so no pot shafts got bent.) Utterly reliable, and it's the sound I'm after. There are certainly good amps out there cheaper, but I've never regretted buying mine for a moment
it's worth pointing out that every other manufacter (almost) produces goods for 110 volts the marks up stupidly for all of us on 230V for putting in a different transformer.
Eden have the switching ability and have less of a markup internationally so for me in Australia, they're not expensive at all.

I have used Eden for over 10 years, first a WT400plus and now a WT800B and have had no issues with either amp, even when I was playing 3 to 4 gigs a week for a sustained period of time. When I first got the WT400plus it was ultra small/light for an amp with that (true) power rating at that time. This was the reason I switched as my SVT was just getting too much to carry around all the time. I was glad I did and although in the higher price bracket for bass amps my Eden's have proved themselves to be worth every penny and the sound works great for me with both my Stingrays and P Basses. And I agree about the swicheable voltage which has been invaluable when touring Europe.
Another thing that is worth the extra cost is the superb DI with a level pot; sound guys always remark how easy it is to use the feed.
I put a WT-550 in the backline of an after-ski bar here, that gets played by a different bassist every week for about 3 hours every day. Every one except one who always goes direct with his own effects/DI rig has said they loved the amp and found it super easy to dial in, after realizing flat or close to flat worked great. It just keeps chugging away, and is one less thing for the bar manager to worry about. Every band sounds good, too, with tight warm bass keeping the mix clean.

I think its beacause they are (or at least to be) based and built in Minneapolis Minnesota.

Fellow Bassists, I do own a WT-500 & a 4x10' xlt since 1997 & the sound stays amazing. Why is it so expensive ? If you open the head, you will understand. It is crafted in a military way. Single lay electronic plate. Sharp soldering, very correct wiring. I had only once a problem, Whilst playing, the sound went down. I still do not know if this came from my ex-factor or the amp's head itself. What I have done is redone all the soldering, changed the groovetube & the alcalines in my Kubicki. Quality has a price & it lasts for a long time. Eden are the most versatile amps on the market. You can play every kind of music on them. Trace or Ampeg are even more pricy & they are not crafted as good as Eden... Musically Yours, Kikilon
