Eden - why so expensive?

Well if you are going to look at a high-end 2x10 combo there are lots of options besides Eden. You could consider the SWR Super Redhead (which is about $200 cheaper), an Ashdown ABM 2x10 Combo which is about $1,100, a Markbass 2x10 (I'm not sure what this runs but I believe it is in the $1,300 range). Point being, there is a lot out there to consider. eBay and the classifieds on here are chock full of goodies. Eden stuff is nice and the reputation dictates the price but there are IMO equally (if not better) nice 2x10 combos that are cheaper.

+1 about the Nemmy line. I'm not even a big fan of Eden, but I like Nemesis stuff, especially older Nemesis. I had a really good three weeks owning a 2002 NC-200b combo. I wouldn't have sold it had I just not gone to Guitar Center and tried the M***B*** (the amp that dare not speak its name because of all the whiny babies on here who think we have to like what they like otherwise we're suckers).

So, what kind of attitude is that? The same could be said of the M***B*** users. :eyebrow:

Why can't we all just act like the professionals we would like to be and respect each others equipment choices? Equipment selection is a personal thing - when we insult/devalue a musician's equipment we might as well be devaluating him/her.

Tell that to the people who hate them. I have opinions on amps but I respect anyone's right to play what they want and far be it from me to tell them they made a mistake. And I never hold a player's amp against the player.

Just for reference, Epifani's comparable UL-210c 210 combo is on sale for $2200 ($2900 list).
Markbass' SD800 head alone costs more the whole Eden combo.

Do you mean the Markbass SD800 that sells for $1199? Nowhere near what the Metro costs and way more power. You'd have $400 left over for a speaker.

Compare it to a MB 210 combo. Or an LMII and the $1,000 cab of your choice.

Here's a quick primer on retail pricing. List price is a fantasy number published by the manufacturer, but it does have some informational value because you can figure that the dealers pay about half of that price, then add their markup. The "discounted" price you see at every online dealer is the minimum advertised price--the manufacturer requires the dealers to agree not to advertise the gear for less than this minimum. That's why all the online dealers advertise the gear at the same "discounted" price, which is actually the full retail price. But you should never pay that much if you shop around by calling or e-mailing dealers, since they are free to sell at whatever price they're willing to sell at. They just can't advertise their lower prices. You'll be able to find a dealer who is willing to accept a smaller profit and sell it to you for closer to the (roughly) 1/2-of-list price that the dealer paid. In the case of the Metro ($2060 list, $1600 minimum advertised price) that might be closer to $1300. Not a bad price for a two-channel tube/solid state high-powered mono head and a high quality 210, made in the USA.

What you don't get is that us Eden users are tired of being put in a box and called every sort nof name in every single thread about Eden that you feel compelled to post in. It's you who are divisive and who insist on ''not telling them they made a mistake' by mentioning that you don't tell them that over and over. Why you react so strongly to the tiny percentage of folks here who don't like Markbass, and who merely state their opinion, and refuse to categorize evewryone who does, reveals a deep need you must have to be validated by your choice of amp.

I know you will twist this into another example of an Eden user whining, but if I'm whining it's not because I give a flying shag at a rolling doughnut whether you like it or not (and I already know enough of your opinions about tone to know they aren't a reliable guide for my ears), but because every thread where most of us deign to make useful and friendly posts desingned to further understanding repeatedly slide into childish personal attacks and bilious nonsense. If I'm the only one that thinks this way I'd be surprised, but I'll give you points for consistency.

BTW, how could anyone who is happy wih their gear have 'made a mistake'. Was their mistake to not try and please you instead of themselves?

I promise this is the last time I will react like Pavlov's dog to your anti Eden-user's posts, but I just had to get this of my chest once and for all.

The bottom line is that they charge as much as customers are willing to pay but not so much that they lose business to their competition.

I've never owned an Eden amp or cab, but after reading the posts about them here on TB, I can deduce that Eden is probably the most loved and the most hated cabinet maker that exists. But the price that people are willing to pay for their cabs demonstrates that enough people continue to buy them year after year and love them in spite of the negative comments, and that wouldn't be the case if they actually made less than quality products in such a competitive market.

Just for the record, the last time my neighbors nasty little yap yap came into my yard and started a bunch attitude with my Bassett hound while he was leashed and squatting,

Yapper got launched about 15' off the end of my boot. I dared my neighbor to do anything about it assured him the next time it happened it would be him on the end of my boot.

I ain't no Buddhist and he walks his dog on a leash now.:D

We all have a little work to do.:D
