Eden WT-800C and blown speaker issues

Hi! First post here... I'm a guitar player doing a little research for my bass player.

He has an Eden WT-800C running in bridged mono mode. For cabs he ran an SWR Goliath III 4x10 and an Eden D410XLT (one at a time, not linked... both 8 ohm cabs). Lately he's been loosing speakers at an alarming rate in his cab! He's not blowing the coils on the speakers. They are ripping apart at the dust cover/cone connection and folding along the outer edge of the cone.

I've pulled several speakers from the Eden cab and put them in the SWR cab to keep him running... but I'm afraid we're going to run out of speakers before too long.

He doesn't play too astronomically loud, but he does do some slap once and a while which may be putting some excessive excursions on the speakers.

Before the Eden he had a SWR Mo'Bass and never lost a speaker in the 5 years he had it. With the Eden amp he's lost 4 speakers in the past 6 months!

These cabs have a high power handling capacity so we can't quite understand why he's losing so many speakers. Has anyone else here lost speakers when using the Eden WT-800C in bridged mono mode? Is it simply too much power for these cabs??

It's also possible he's running the amp's Enhance control or bass EQ very high. You won't get much audible effect doing this at high volumes. But you can overextend cones.

Many players boost bass to be heard better in the mix, when they should instead work on the balance of low mids from guitar and bass. Cut back a bit on the guitar's low mids, and make sure you've got some coming from the bass. The range between 350 and 800Hz is a good place to start.
