how do you guys setup your EQ on this particular amp head? Im having a hard time dialing in the tone I know its capable of IE mike gordons, or phil leshs or something at least somewhat close. Is there something im missing here? will a sansamp or preamp help?

The Eden WT-600 was the only amp I ever had that sounded great to me with everything set flat/noon. Perhaps a touch of low mids, but not crucial. FWIW.

Those Eden heads have great EQ IMO, not familiar with the guys you mention but don't be afraid to turn those knobs. :)

With the Eden tone stack, the best place to start is everything at noon, Enhance off. From there, I like to give one click of bass and maybe one click of mids at about 700 hz. The key is not to overdo it. If you set any EQ level above about 2 o'clock, you're overdoing it. If you use the Enhance control at all, about 9 o'clock would be the max.

Above settings work for me, too.

Main thing is to get the gain set right- too low and no guts, too high and nasty farting out sounds. In the sweet spot the amp comes alive. on passive Fenders that can mean way up near and above 2:00.

When all else fails, set everything flat, it may not be what you want but it will not sound bad. The cabinet or cabninets you use play into the tone you get also! IMHO this is the chain to your tone.
1. your fingers
2. your bass
3. the head wt550
4 your cabinet

Depends on your cab of course, but I typically run gain according to bass, i.e. passive or active. No enhance to start, everything flat. I have Bart's in my bass, and between them and the cabs I get a lot of mid punch from the get go.

After that, it's completely room dependent. One theatre I play has a nasty low mid hump where I'm set up, so I dial it out. Often, a click or two of enhance will clean things up nicely. And a touch of bass is sometimes exactly the ticket.

I've always found this amp really lets you hear the real sound of your instrument, and your technique!

The EQ on the amp is very sensitive, so staying in the first lines boost or cut does a whole lot.Anything more and you really alter the tone in an unnatural way.Much of course depends on your cab and your bass( especially if it has a preamp. Also subtracting frequencies you don't like is sometimes better than adding.
For me,Bag End S15XD speakers,J Bass 5 string, Marcus Miller type of sound:
no Enhance,Bass 1 o'clock,low 300hz 12:30,mid 600hz 11:30,high 6k 11:30,Treble 1 O'clock.
Hope that helps

Lots of good info here that accords with my experience:
- Very important to set the gain right, makes a huge difference
- Bass +1
- Low-mids @ ~500 to 700: +1
- either Treble shelf or high mid @ ~2000 - 3000: -1
- Enhance between 8 and 9 o'clock (I wouldn't go above 9 o'clock
