I currently use a single EX112 4ohms for my DB and it's surprisingly good. I like it because it's light and compact, having the advantages of a tweeter without the extra space it normally requires. Good for slab too!
FWIW, I was advised not to get the 8 ohms version. I don't know why exactly, and perhaps I was a little bit dogmatic in my purchase, but I was told the 4 ohms was good and the 8 ohms was "shy". But I don't have first hand experience with the 8 ohms, so let your ears be the judge! Given their cost, the risk is kinda low...
It is the 4 ohm cab they have in stock and I was pleased with the sound. It was very natural with all the eq knobs at 12 o clock. I think I will go for it. Thanks for your advice
Adagio what head are you using? I have been curious about the 12 with GB shuttle 3.0 for louder and BG gigs. I currently have the 8T combo and it is great, but thinking this 12 might be good to have at the price point.
I have an EA Doubler. The only thing is that I have to be extra careful about the output level because I can overload the speaker as the Doubler is rated almost as twice the wattage of the cab. I've heard it fart once or twice when I tested its limits whit the slab, but it's way louder than what I require with the DB. A Shuttle 3 would be a better match for a single cab IMO. Where do you guys find these? I'd like another one to complete the pair!
I finally went and bought the eden wtx264 and 12" cab and I must say its amazing I gigged with it last night with a 6 peice jump jive band and it cut through really well
Are any of you still using the EX112, or have you moved on to bigger (or smaller) and better things? I'm a little tempted to pick one up for the heck of it as they seem to be getting cleared out now for pretty cheap. I don't think there are any available locally to test out.
Does the 4 Ohm really sound different/better than the 8 Ohm?
