Anyone have any experience yet with this little amp? I'd especially be interested in a comparison of this and the Genz-Benz NeoPak 3.5.

Eden WTX260

I didn't think it was suppose to enter production until late sept? (see sig for pics)
go over to www.eden-electronics.com forum and ask "lane on bass" I'm sure he's played it already. I talked to the amp's engineer and he was quite excited about it, but the watts look a little small to me.

EA has announced they are coming out with a new 3 pound 300 watt amp. They are hoping to have out by the end of the years.

EA's amps are small enough as it is! I'm in no rush, so maybe I'll wait till the end of the year to take a look at these, too.
My experience with Eden is that they tend to be a little late on innovations because they want to do it the "Eden way". One only needs to look at their hesitance in entering the neo speaker cab fray. When I met David Nordschow he told me how insistent they were on getting the "Eden sound" before they introduced neo's. It will be interesting to see if the 260 produces that trademark Eden warmth. If it does, even though they came to the party late, they may have something. Most of the ultra light amps (AI, Walter Woods) just don't have the kinda of grunt I like in the low end and are too clean. If the 260 does the UL thing with warmth, then I can't wait for the 560!

It appears that the preamp section of this new little amp, is exactly the same as the WT-330, 390 and 405. They all use that same chip, and dials that are on the 260. I have a WT-330 that was upgraded to a 405, and love that amp. The preamp section is all Eden sound. So if they are the same, and I assume they are, they will be a great sounding little amp. Just a little too spendy for my blood. I'd love to have one, but just can't justify the cash, just to have a little amp to use for practice and such. Not enough poop for my liking for a gig, even though it could be run through a power amp, but I already do that with the one I have now. What I'd like to see them make, is just a preamp, using this preamp section, rather than the one they make. This one has few knobs , and is simple, and one channel. The Navigator is overkill in my book.
Although they both use the "golden ear" chip, the 260 doesn't have the "warm" function in the preamp, as included in the WT405.

I don't post much here, because I can't find time to spend on a regular basis...but did want to jump in and see if I can answer a few questions.
1. The Golden Ear chip (our name, btw) is the same chip as used in the very high-end recording consoles, such as the Neve and Harris units. More than a decade ago, I had the chance to speak with Rupert Neve, and he said that one of his big secrets was the chip he used. It's more expensive than the chips normally used (about 7 times as much) and is incredibly warm. (I'm a tube junkie, so for me to say "warm" and "solid state" in one sentence is pretty unsual).
2. The front end is *based* on the Time Traveler design (330, 390, 305), but does things a bit differently because we could'nt fit ALL of the features in the mini amp. We talked to a LOT of users, and incorporated the things that everyone really wanted, and left out a thing or two that ended up on the bottom of the list.
3. Yes, we prefer to do things "the Eden way". <smile> Which is why we waiting until David was happy with a light-weight power section. BTW, ours is a very unique analog switching amplifier, not a class D. David feels (and I agree) that it is more musical, more dynamic, than Class D designs. It's also the reason we haven't released our neo cabs yet. David wants to offer a cab that still has all (or most) of the oomph and tone of a standard cab... and wants to offer a speaker with a reasonable life span... that will perform to spec for more than a few years.
I'm am loathe to discuss the finer points of engineering... preferring to spend that time practicing... so I leave all the engineering to the David Brothers (David N. and David G., our pet rocket scientist). All I know is that I've never been disappointed...
Oh! And the WTX should be shipping by the end of the month.

I wouldn't expect it to replace 1100 watts of bridged wt800b, nor 1600 watts of Navigator/qsc-plx 1602
But, if it's ~300 watts pushed hard can compete with my TFB420 that I barely push hard at all...well, maybe!
