Very interesting. I'm going to need to listen to it another time or two to decide if I actually like it, but it's definitely unique.
Awesome, but it ain't country. There's a difference between bluegrass and country. I'm not personally sure what that difference really and truly is but I'm told it's there and never the 'twain shall meet. Lots of cattle and no hat in one and the opposite in t'other.

Coolest part for me is knowing someone is going to google Edgar and become aware of his music because of this. That's a good thing.
For me, "from the heart" doesn't just mean squinting "sex faces" onstage and trying hard in the moment, or using trite musical devices that try to get people to "feel". Passion for music to me is express by what you put into it in your off-stage life. Edgar's passion for music and the double bass is what shines through here, not Ms. Swift.
The most powerful out-pouring of passion for music I have ever seen was lecture/demo by James Tenney on John Cage's "Sonatas & Interludes for prepared piano". He presented nearly 50 years of passionate research.

That too me her's lacks depth. People like Edgar and Tenney demonstrate their passion by what they put into music on and off stage. That mannered, "Team America" vibrato is supposed to make you "feel". I don't buy it.
Edgar's been around for decades. Only time will tell if Swift will grow into a similar maturity level. You guys are comparing apples to oranges.

I get this, too. So let's stop trying to pretend that she is any sort of "artist" or that it is about anything else, just because her management put some great players on stage with her.
+1I know nothing about Taylor Swift or her music. I dont listen to much country/pop radio but she was given the Pinnacle award last evening at age 23. She is only the second person after Garth Brooks to win this award which is code for she made the record label looooaaads (insert the voice of Ron White here) of money.
BUT, they said she wrote every song she ever recorded and released. Thats impressive. And when you can get Alison Krauss, who has more Grammys then all of them on stage, as a back up singer well Im just saying.
