Effect to reduce string noise

Interestingly there is a pedal that does exactly this. It is an adjustable narrow notch filter. It was called the Yamaha NE1 aka Nathan East “magic box” and the setting he used? 2kHz.

It’s a great pedal and does exactly what it’s supposed to do, but people didn’t buy it (my theory is they didn’t understand that it’s not a preamp) and Yamaha stopped making it a while ago.

I have 3. No they are not for sale. They come up used now and then.

Go to the dollar tree get the stretchy hair ties cut two tie one at the bridge.. One at the nut. And play a little lighter

Between different brands of strings, even flats if a foam mute isn't used, there are differences in amounts finger noise from shifting position on the strings.

I get most finger noise running over flats from GHS P flats. On LaBella DTF 760M's and Fender 9050M's I get minimum to no finger noise from running my left fretting hand along strings as I shift positions along the neck.
