Hey all.

About 9 months ago I started a thread about effects and where to start. I ended up starting with a fuzz pedal. I went for the ashdown bearded lady. Despite its design flaw (knobs right next to the foot switch), I toyed with the settings, found what I liked, and gaffa taped them down! Loving it. Since then, I've added the EH bassballs, which is getting some serious usage in the funk band I'm playing with. I've even got a nice pedal board for them to sit on along with the tuner and the compressor (budda chakra).

Anyways, the problem I'm now facing is, I have a big empty space on my pedal board :D

I'm currently playing in a soul/funk band, an upbeat punk band and just starting a psychedelic "tame impala" esq band.

My question to you guys and gals is, what would you add to the pedal?

Ps still on the look out for a fender sublime pedal ;)

Cheers

Depending what you want you have a million options:

- new sounds - a delay pedal would be excellent. The Moog MF-Delay is excellent and since they are changing the faceplates, you can find them for around $140-150 new.
- new sounds - phase pedals are always lovely in psychedelic and funk settings. Simple MXR phase 90 script is about as good as you can find
- improved existing sounds - a compressor can really help tighten things up and create snap, crackle and pop. I like tone enhancing comps like the Diamond, FEA Opti or MarkBass
- dirt - you can never have enough dirt. Since you have a fuzz, how about a nice transparent overdrive like a Fairfield Barbershop?

Delay and phase sound interesting. I've been looking at reviews of different pedals and the majority of the playing has been chords, tapping and picking styles. Can these effects be worked into more punchy riffs?

I've got the Budda chakra compressor (all I could afford at the time) which I'm quite happy with. I would like to upgrade when the time is right.

I've had great luck experimenting with Source Audio stuff. I had their BEF and Multiwave distortion (pro versions) for a while. Now I'm using their Manta filter and their programmable EQ. I'm now searching for more and different dirt sources.

I have seen a few demo's on YouTube and they do look interesting! It's just the size of them and the little space I have on my board (a new one I made at work just last week!) that puts me off! Haha

So I did a bit of a reading and went ahead with getting an octaver. Went with the OC3. Yet to have a play with it.

So now I've got a few pedals I need to look at the best way to run them. At the minute I have it as bass> tuner> compressor> fuzz> bassballs> amp. I read somewhere that the OC3 should be direct to either the guitar or amp? So I was just going to stick it on the end of the chain. Sound like a good idea?

Octave after compressor and before all other effects. Otherwise tracking will suck.
