Double Bass Ehrlund EAP Placement and "Unevenness" string to string?

Hello.

I've had some good results and some bad with placing the Ehrlund at various spots on my instrument. I'm wondering if anyone would mind sharing where they've had the most luck. Is anyone using it above the bridge?

Also, does anyone else have trouble getting an even response across the strings? Most places where I can find a good sound result in a weak signal from the G/D strings, a moderate one from the E and a HUGE signal from the A. I imagine it's because the best places I've found for the pickup are over/around the bass bar, and the A string runs nearly directly over it.

Hi James,

Here's a photo of my bass with the position of the EAP which works for me, hope it's of some help.( The photo is inverted for some reason, the EAP is on the E string side).
I truly believe the EAP should give you a very even amplification across the different strings. Does you bass sound even un-amplified? Are you boosting bass frequencies with the EQ?. ( Personally , I tend to cut a fair amount of bass on my AI contra).

I just played a gig. After trying several spots pizz and arco, I put mine on the E side bottom corner. I tried to draw it, but it looks wrong. Anyway, it is mounted at the bottom of the bout, where it's turning from 'side' to become the 'bottom.' This gave me the warmest arco sound, and a nice natural pizz, too.
Less airy and open than other placements, but more audible amplified. It was a very satisfying woody sound on the (piano trio+vocal jazz) gig.

happiest now with trianlge facing north, right in the corner of the bottom C bought, E string side. It's a gamba bass, and the seams are even- no purfling on the outside of the ribs. The mic is stuck right where the bottom rib meets the bought.
So the West point is along the outside rib, the north point of the triangle is along the rib in the C bought. Works great on my bass right there. Straight into (no pre) my Genz shuttle 6.0, it sounds fantastic.
