Double Bass ehrlund preamp

I recently made (for me) a useful discovery. I don't often use the Ehrlund, since the Full Circle is so easy, dependable and feedback resistant. But, using the Ehrlund preamp with the Full Circle gives me a volume control "on board", and a phase switch. Sounds (to me) transparent with the Walter Woods. Took me a long time to realize how useful the volume control is, particularly if there is enough pause time between arco and pizz to turn it.

I experience the same thing (albeit with different onboard PU and pre-amp hardware); arco is so much louder than pizz that the ability to make a fast volume change becomes very important *. Because of this I have my pre-amp semi-permanently mounted on the back of my bow quiver, just adjust the volume and then grab the bow; when done just slide the bow back into the quiver and readjust the volume.

...With a recent new bow acquisition, I'm seriously thinking about more arco during performances.

(* The same goes for those insane interjections of slap if one also has a fingerboard PU and a dual channel blending pre-amp.)

One of the advantages the Felix has built in with his boost switch including a phase switch and the possibility to mix with a microphone...

The Ehrlund Preamp is a less expensive alternative to both the Grace Felix and the Headway EDB-2. I've used it on the Realist, Revolution Solo, and Planet Wing.
It improves the sound of any pickup. For @ $64.00 more the Headway EDB-2 has a much more refined EQ and feature set.
