EHX Electric Mistress vs. MXR Flanger

Currently have an OLD Electric Mistress that is noisy and on its last legs. Thinking about changing things up (also because I want a little more pedal board space).

Right now, I'm deciding between the new EHX Electric Mistress (the chorus/flange blend) and the MXR Flanger. I like both. The New EM isn't quite the old version. There are some subtle differences that I haven't quite figured out in the few minutes I had to tinker with it at the store. It also has chorus, which is cool...but not something I'd use all that often. I like the filter matrix mode, but I think the MXR can do something like this.

Advice, thoughts, opinions?

Any others you'd recommend checking out before I go in for one of these (I've tried the Boss BF-3, kinda...meh).

Don't want to spend a whole lot on this, so Maxxon and other devices > $200 are out of the question.

I had the old style Deluxe Electric Mistress (which I loved), sold it, and got a Neo Mistress. Big space difference, similar flanging. It's not quite the same as the DEM, but is still great in sound, footprint, and price.

I own the EHX Stereo Electric Mistress with the chorus/ flange. It sounds great as a 'modulation' pedal. As a chorus or flange alone it doesn't impress. I find that cranking the flange too much sounds metallic and harsh.
