EHX Enigma QBalls: Review

I'm loving mine thus far. It has by far the greatest learning curve of any pedal I've ever owned or used, but I'm getting there with it, and with a smile on my face.

If I ever play live with it, I will be investing in a notepad for settings. Also, my attention to dynamics has never been more intense, and that has done me a favor.

Well, this thing has replaced my Qtron+. I could go on and on about the better things about it, but the biggest thing is that I have been using it much much more than the Qtron, and I really want a delay.

Hmm. Not much to say except that I'm keeping both for different reasons. The Qtron+ is still waaaay wetter than anything that I have ever used, and it works so well with my B:assmaster. I Have the qballs set for a lower setting though. Kicking on the distortion seems to send everything into chaos land though.

hello,

today i received my highly anticipated enigma from hotrox.uk, but as i unwrapped it and tried to use it, it just didn't work.

only the red "overload" led was lighted, but no sound was coming through. is there some way tho "reset" that pedal, or may it be just broken ?

The only way I reset my Enigma was sending it back for another unit...don't know for sure if your's is broke or not, but my 1st unit did the exact same after a couple of days (actually a few hours of playtime). Open it up and take a look inside.

When working, these Enigma really do sound great, though....

I does get pretty speaker killing low though.

Mine showed up today and I only had about 5 or 10 minutes to play with it. Loving the control over all the parameters! I prefer the sound to the Q-tron+ I had.

I'll post more once I've had more of a play. What I will say is... use a compressor/limiter with it if you want to use the more extreme settings!!

mkay...thanks for your info funkinthetrunk. makes me feel some kind of reliefed, that i'm not the only one who has this kind of "error".
you advise me to "open it up and take a look inside", i did that. what should i see or look for ?
nothing seem to be burnt and it doesn smell like smoke ...

Ooops, didn't see this post.....but, after opening, make sure there wasn't anything loose inside that was causing a short. Moot point since I'm sure you returned this defective unit. But a working unit really does sound great. My new working unit has a serial number, something that my original unit did not have....

+1 to the EHX QBALLS in general, got one a few weeks ago and have truly been diggin the pedal for its awesome versatility and overall wetness. It has replaced my old QTRON that I thought would never be replaced. The built in dirt is nice and also the fact that you have the start and stop freq is a nice touch. This along with my XO BMS and I can pretty much make any sound I want...well in the envelope/synth world at least!
