Managed to get a good deal on the Micro Pog so they're right around the same price... Thoughts between the two? Or others that I should consider for under $200? Thanks.

EHX Micro Pog vs MXR Bass Octave Deluxe

Two completly different sounding pedals. The BOD sounds really good (that is what I have) it is analog so to my ears it seems a little "warmer" It also has the girth and growl knobs so you can get either a synthy or slightly overdriven octave...or blend the two. It seems to track pretty well all they way down to the E and I think i ahve gotten it to the D but it was pushing it.
As for the micropog. It is digital so it will track better or at least be less glitchy. It can do an octave up and/or octave down. but the octave you hear is what you get, no real tonal variations on it. I am a fan of the BOD but if you have the chance, try them both.
As for others, i sold my EBS to get the BOD and I like it much better, but others did the EBS so you might want to look at that as well. I am sure others will chime in soon...

Funny you mention these pedals. I have both and use them for different applications. I would recomend both of these not just one or the other.

The BOD seems to be really bass sensitive (in the sense of bass guitar). On my Streamer it`ll track down to low F with no fuss. On my Ray I`m lucky to get down to Ab without it glitching. I`m still trying to figure out why this may be the case.
p.s Both basses are active and I have yet to try it with a passive.

Mine does exactly the same no matter what bass I use and how hot the signal is. I'm probably going to sell it b/c of this.
+1. One major difference between the two, IMO. You can make your bass sound like a cathedral organ...just in case you need your bass to sound like a cathedral organ.

It likes shorter string lengths. For instance, it has a harder time tracking the open G string than it does G on the D, and it LOVES G on the A string. That being said, mine goes down to G on the E string reliably. A steady left hand and an clear pluck helps of course. It's like learning a new musical instrument, and the sound is worth it. Since I just have room for one, this is the one.
I've only used the micro POG but I'm loving it so far.
Pros:
-polyphonic
-octave up and down
-tracks very well
-consistent sound, no warbling!
-sounds great in the mix
cons:
-One tone, sterile when heard alone (but as I said, great in the mix or with some overdrive)
-doesn't work well with drum machines/as a noise pedal (you'd expect an analog octaver to produce on octave down no matter what, ie, with a kick drum sound or a voice - the microPOG doesn't seem to like that)

They are 2 different beasts altogether. I use the microPog as a signal splitter(has effect out and a dry out) and for the dry and higher octave exclusively and it gives me this very exotic sound when mixed with my phaser and fuzz very cool indeed. I do NOT use it for octave down. The octave down is a little boring(especially by itself) and seems to get lost in the mix. I run my split signal out of the MicroPog into the BOD. I have been able to track down to the A note on my E string without any wavering(the wavering is cool not as cool as the Multiplexer but also no signal volume loss either so a good trade off) and with the mid switch the Girth and Growl nobs you can get some very cool sub octave tones out of this pedal. The Growl is similar to the revered OC-2 and the girth sounds similar to the EBS octabass. The mid switch adds a mid boost to your original signal at either 450 or 850(I think)I keep it at the higher value and it just adds a spark to the overall badass sound it creates. I love the versatility having both of these pedals add to my sound but I hope this helps you find what you are looking for.

I have the Markbass SuperSynth now and the octave section are great. You can store three settings, only the octave down dialed in sounds like the good old OC-2. The octave up is a joke compared to the Micro POG, but I don't need it anyway. The octave down mixed with the dry knob makes a very fat and thick sound.

My old 'ray was a bit crap with "tracking" pedals too. I think it's just the dead-spotty nature of Stingray necks that is the problem.
To the O.P.: The BOD is an analogue octaver, the Micro POG is a (fairly limited admittedly) digital harmoniser. They're totally different effects and I can't imagine trying to use them both to do the same job.
Can't recommend one or the other because it really depends what you need, but every bassist should have an analogue octaver at their disposal IMO.
This is exactly the question I had as well, thanks guys. You're demo was really helpful aledeville. I like that you can octave up or down with the POG but the analogue ones sound so much better. I'll probably go for the BOD or octabass.
