EHX POG III, oh yes please

.... The Pog III is kind of a Hog III lite....it seems to add a lot of the Hog 2's features (the amazing filter and expression options, Midi control and some of the sliders) to the Pog range.
It gains stereo, which is kind of nice. However I don't see the point of stereo on this type of effect panel. I tend to run mono with my octaves, compression, dirt and filters.

I use my Pog2 the same way > mono thru comp / octave / dirt section, but I guess the ability to split is more aimed at people who may wish to record panning effects &/or run any of the options to secondary amps.

I already have 120 presets and an LCD screen with my Hog 2 and optional foot switcher. Having them integrated would be nice, but loosing 21 patches?
Same familiar filter controls...some extra expression control options which are nice....but that's a not of cash for a loss of some features and not a lot of extra new ones.
I think I'd like to play one just to see if I'm missing something, but currently...I'm missing a whole dollop of wow factor that's missing from this panel.

Is there a Hog III coming down the line?

I'm not sure on all that, wait until a manual arrives online for us to look thru I guess. If it's possible to IMPORT patches/saves to the POG3 that could change things a bit.

It seems as if this is the poggiest pog that ever poged. At the price tag if the sliders don't move with each preset, I don't want it

I haven't seen alot of mentions of the Pog3 in talkbass since this thread - for folks that got it - what do you think? how is the tracking? are the sounds good/fit in with your band?

I've seen them show up on reverb in the $450 range...

I’ve been watching YouTube videos for this pedal. Seems like it could be a great tool to create interesting parts. Alas, it seems to have been a total flop.

So I can't help but notice a downward trend with this pedal. I see a few used ones for sale on Reverb for like $425 which is a pretty hefty drop from the new price. What's the deal (asking owners)?

I just think it's a bit of a "miss." the price tag new is really high, and the features are cool but they're not practical. feels like a solution-looking-for-a-problem, if that makes sense.

demos sound very cool, but i just don't think it's particularly practical - i and I like wacky stuff like this. At $345 if I was playing electric much these days i'd consider a used one. but even that price is high for what I'd actually want out of it.

I personally bought a V1 POG in minty condition a few months ago and LOVE it. I might lie in wait to see what happens to the V2. I thought it was very telling that EHX did not discontinue the V2 as they marketing the V3. The V2 is wildly popular and they just knew killing it was not a good move.

if it was slimmed down, (IMO) no app connectivity, just knobs and sliders that make perfect sense, and in the $500 range new, i think it would've been more popular.

100% me too. I want nothing to do with an app for a pedal. It's sort of a deal breaker, even.

I understand how much more flexible things become when you can edit on a phone or computer. but I just don't look for that level of flexibility in a pedal.

I think the new Behringer $140 clone of the Moog Freqbox might be a real contender in synth bass, if it’s any good. The Freqbox is a perfect concept, an oscillator triggered by an external musical signal, tunable to track parallel pitch or not, with many cv inputs to make it semi-modular. Maybe not as practical as a MXR or EHX device but a lot more flexible.

They are under £350 new here in the UK now. If I didn't already have a Luminary II maybe I'd try one.

Thanks. I’ve never heard of it. I got a EQD Bit Commander that doesn’t really do what I was hoping for bass. Think the Behringer copy of the Moog FreqBox might be the ticket, it can run outboard synths that I am already familiar with, like the (behringer copy of) the Moog Model D.
