EHX SuperEgo Synth Engine

Ubersheist said:
Well, I bought one. It's pretty fun. I think it'll be REALLY fun after I get my next order in... The Source Audio Bass Envelope Filter Pro. I'm thinking this will be really fun: Bass --> EHX Bass MicroSynth --> B:assmaster --> SuperEgo ---> Bass Envelope Filter with Hot Hands --> Amp.

Should be KILLER.

So far the SuperEgo is fun for soloing over and I've found some good, usable tones. However, I'm really looking forward to messing with it after I get the Hot Hands in the effects chain. Can't wait....

When this happens I think we all deserve a demo video. That chain sounds completely ridiculous (in a good way). I've been minimizing my pedals as of late but this thing is so damn tempting.

The effect loop seems very useful. I have both the Freeze and the Zcat Hold/Chorus, and I like the 100% wet I can get from the Zcat.

I guess I'll pick one up when someone decides it's not for them, and drops the price from new.

Do you ever wonder if some out-of-shape people join running forums to post negative comments about running? I always laugh at those who take the time to just be negative, and I always feel bad for those in their lives who have to tolerate negative comments just because of their proximity.

Still, I hope that's working out for ya, and thanks for the well thought out criticism!

I think I'm in the same boat, I'm waiting until they start to pop up in the classifieds :ninja:

UH...I guess you don't post in here very often because I am all over the effects forum. I love effects, IME EHX half-ass builds effects and generally miss the mark. They half complete good ideas. Sure some people love them, good for them. I am not interested in it and hope you guys that get it enjoy it.
I have no shame that my opinion is BLAH!
The beauty of a forum is multiple opinions. If you want EHX fanboydom they have a forum of their own.

BLAH

is the trolling comment for the person who actually had more than one word to say about the effect, or the in-depth one-word review? *laugh*

You're right, though, I've not been around recently, and was reacting purely to the person who was ready to put down without really contributing much. In other words, I was reacting to the the immediate conduct, and didn't do research to discover why that conduct was acceptable. If anyone feels my reaction to that was trolling, be sure to use the report button, right?

Cheers!

Now, back to the pedal:

----

This pedal actually manages to get back to the Space Station sound, for which a lot of people will pay a bit. Using this in the same way means you'll get much the same effect, and one can even add pedals to the chain to add the fifth-up/fourth-up/whatever sounds.

Although I don't like the sound of the gliss as much as the gliss in my HOG, I do like the idea of adding a heavy Line 6 Echo Park/Verbzilla ambient cloud after it, so the chord changes move in with a gated reverb.

I think this would be an awesome pedal for soloing with a little practice. Or in a spot where you want to fill a sonic gap but don't necessarily want to have your attack shine through. I really dig it and the fact that its basically a Freeze and a little synth built into one box is appealing to people like me who don't like having a buttload of pedals to mess with but like weird sounds.

i like the idea of the Freeze. i used to use it to hold a root messy thing whilst chording over it. then it crapped out. like all EHX eventually does. i just don't trust the company to build stuff right.

I actually value both Delta and Behndy's opinion. They're both all over place in the FX section here and seem to have a pretty good grasp on what's quality and what's not. That being said, I'm a no money having mofo so I can't always go for the high quality. EHX isn't the best, but its okay...and that works for me, and my wallet, right now. :)

So children...this isn't a trolling vs. Not trolling thread...its a pedal discussion/GAS thread. If you must argue amongst yourselves there are PMs for a reason.

I hate when you use logic ;-)

lol. was about to throw an Eat Me out there, but i feel you. it is silly to only talk about something from HATE........ but....... i'm not bashing the pedal per se, i just hate the way the company does stuff and think that they're....... they're just bad people. maybe with good intentions, but still.

okay, not bad people. but definitely not musicians that have gigged with pedals. 'cause every time they make something that sounds like a good idea, i've put some time into it and it's like they released a 2/5ths done pedal. like they never had somebody actually PLAY the damn thing.

i hate their product so damn much.

the "We're The Guys That Throw As Much **** As Fits In Our Hands And Sees What Sticks" description of EHX is about the most apt i've ever heard.
